    We're not talking volume production of the deerskin.  This is the tannery:

        The black and white walleye photo with the red dot on the roof makes this place look right out of a horror movie!

            Well, you are partly right GB, this is the only tannery that we know of in Europe that still tans with just lime and cod oil.  It was founded in 1723, This is the tannery today:

              @Geo:

              @DrPat:

              Does anybody have any experience cleaning and caring for a leather shirt?  I would assume it's a bit more difficult than a leather jacket since it's worn closer to the body and is made of a softer leather.

              Better not to wash if possible, and just spot clean; but you can hand wash deerskin leather:

              a) Fill a sink with cool water.
              b) Add the mildest soap you can find to the water. Swish the contents with your hand to mix thoroughly.
              c) Submerge the deerskin leather in the cool water. Gently agitate–-mimicking the movements of a washer---the leather and water together.
              d) Drain the water from the sink. Squeeze---do not twist---the water from the deerskin leather.
              e) Allow the deerskin leather to air dry

              Deerskin is a lot more porous than cow and horse, and will stretch so be careful about wringing and drying. Grease stains are very difficult to get out but will 'fade' into the garment.

              I have a very fine Armani skin (from the man himself) which has never been cleaned in over 10 years and has molded itself to me - there are stains and discolourations but they all look like they are part of the jacket and it's aging process.

              I'll post some pics when I get the chance

              and the pics . . .

              I'm not the best photographer - but hope these show the patina that develops with age . . . well the grease marks  😉

              I guess the point is, the IHSHA-01 will improve with age just like your favourite IH denim

                Message direct (well through a translator) from the tanner:

                By the way: you can wash the deerskin in the  machine ( like a wool pullover)
                Afterwards you have to move it a little over the edge of a table or  back of a  chair, to make it a little softer again.

                  no problems with shape-loss?

                  mind you I have a pair of Hestra deerskin gloves and they got washed accidently and survived pretty well!

                      thanks G

                      loving it - just had a worry it might have been a bit Chamois-like if you see what I mean . . . washable but stretchable; so this is good stuff

                      personally if I can afford it when it arrives then I might just repeat the (armani jacket) non-wash route - and keep this info up my sleeve (sorry  ;)) for emergencies

                        I was talking to a guy who has a pair of jeans made in this stuff (yes, I'm already getting a sample made…...............) He has worn them all winter for the last 5 years.  No shape loss......

                            If you had to take an educated guess, is the IHAS01 6 months out or sooner? I've got a 9526v in my sight but… you know...!

                                  Update.  We are just tweaking the cut and the placement of pockets.

                                  Apart from black, these will be the colour options.

                                  From left to right:

                                  Antique Light, Sand, Antique Dark, Brown, Olive Drab.
