How does the fit compare to the IH-666D a.k.a. Best Jeans Ever Made?

Check out the size charts…..Everything else is subjective....

But the 666D are 5 pocket jeans and the 816 are work pants, completely different animals....

I haven't worn the 666D, but have the 666XHS and 666L and the 816.  For me, although I like both, the 816 is way more comfortable.  As Giles suggests, check the size charts.  I have both a 33 brown and a 32 navy.  The waist will stretch a bit, but I prefer the 33.  The cut has room in the top block and thigh, but with a moderate taper below the knee.  I think it is a really great cut.

Navy, size 34.  I now own 5 pairs of these, if that speaks to the level of quality.

How would you compare fabric of these with IH-707?

I am asking because I just received mine 707 last week. Disappointed. Well built, nice fit, sturdy but completely dull, boring, lifeless fabric with no character.
Disclaimer: I do not want to be on a negative vibe. I own 6 pairs of IH jeans, love them all and believe IH 21oz denim is the best money can buy.

@helmsman - although I disgaree about the 707 being "boring," I will say that the 17oz duck and the 13oz chino material have almost zero in common. The 17oz duck (used on the 816, 801 and other duck bottoms models) is super heavy, has almost no sheen (and zero once washed) and fades and creases beautiful. The chino material on the 707 has a lot more give to it than the duck does in terms of stretch, so consider that when sizing for the 816.

Good luck, and hope you find the 816 to so what you were looking for.

I too disagree as the fabric of the 707 is pretty amazing: light, comfortable and with a beautiful sheen. The perfect chinos in my opinion.

For what it's worth, I think the fabric of the 711 is an improvement on the 707 (which I also liked).  A cut in between the two would be ideal for me.

Can a white T be washed with a navy 816 with impunity?

Thanks, thought the navy was reactive dyed to keep its colour.

It is and it may be OK.

How much shrinkage in length can a very hot soak bring? I want them to be a tad shorter.

I will but I'm concerned they might shrink too much :'(!

                                          So,

Set washing machine temperature to 20C

Start - Increase wash temperature by 10C
                                                  - Wash
                                                  - Have they shrunk enough?
                                                  - Yes?  Stop
                                                  - No? Go to start and repeat.
