Bunny Rugs is best known for being the lead singer of Reggae supergroup Third World. What is less well known about him (and its a shame I think) is that he started his career singing for Lee Perry.

Here is a heavy cover of "Be thankful" from 1973. It was included in a CD of Bunny's tracks recorded with Lee Perry that I released about 10 years ago on my TABOU1 label. RAW!!! It did not sell much but I was proud to have done it because I love Lee Perry and I ADORE Rugs.

Truth be told: I dug it out and re-released it. The original release was in 1974. I've known Bunny RUgs and the rest of the Third World crew for years and Rugs had never mentioned that he'd recorded many songs for Lee Perry until I stumbled on a song which sounded like his voice, but by a singer called Bunny Scott. I called Rugs and told him that this guy sounded like him, and Rugs told me it was him, but that Lee Perry had decided to rename him as Scott, so that "he would sell well in Scotland"!!! After more research, I found sides recorded under Bunny Clarke, Bunny Scott and some other similar names.

The album was originally released as "To Love Somebody" and contained another wicked cover: "Use Me", man what a wicked wicked voice!
