Nice Daytona @tigerpac  Hope you're not regretting the timing of your purchase?  (no pun intended)

I bought this 16750 a couple of months ago, shortly before going overseas for an extended period of work.  I wasn't able to have it delivered before I left and won't receive it until I get back home in another few weeks.  The wait has been absolutely killing me!

Personally I think they really suit the jubilee bracelet too

How often to people really need to keep track of two/three time zones? Or is there an allure of the GMT complication I don't understand?

I have chronographs and diving bezels, but I do need to track elapsed time during meetings/cooking, and I imagine others use theirs the same way.

Speaking for myself, I live in the UK but my work sees me travelling to Europe frequently, (currently weekly), so the GMT function is useful in that I could keep track of 2 time zones.

Of course I can just look at my phone if I want to know the time, but that's not the point [emoji6]

I have a coworker that still looks at his phone to check the time even though he wears a watch. I don't get it.

Thanks.  I can't wait to finally pick it up in a couple of weeks time.  Not a huge fan of the jubilee as it reminds too much of 1980's stock brokers and car salesman.

The 16750 predates the independent GMT hand so it really only allows you to monitor two time zones, not three like the later versions.  I travel quite frequently for work so the GMT hand is useful in that respect but, to be honest, most of the time I could just as easily subtract/add the necessary hours to figure out what time it is in a second timezone.  The appeal of the GMT for me is primarily an aesthetic one.  I love me some two-tone bezel.

On a related point, I'm in a shrinking minority in as much as I don't own a mobile phone so I probably use my wristwatch more than the average guy on the street.

Literally 3 timezones every day. Probably could do cheaper on an Apple Watch, but not interested in them @ all. Would rather go down the Rolly path. It's a pain in the ass currently. Especially after the timezones move (do you know daylight savings moves on 3 different weeks for Europe, American, and Australia?). Keep tracking of who moved to what and when. Takes months to get used to 1am now = 6pm, instead of 0000 = 7pm.

Hodinkee reviewed the Glycine Airman No 1, and liked it. It's a cheaper alternative to a Rolex GMT, and comes in a 36mm case. I figured it might be of interest…

The journalist, Geo Cramer, reckons that most of the brands are missing the point: Watches need to be cooler to appeal to a wider audience than collectors, and need to be cheaper because the Chinese aren't spending so much.

                                        I agree with him.

Some of his picks are interesting. Sure, he includes Rolex, Tudor and Patek, but also talks about Tag Heuer's new Connected watch and tourbillion. The former is so successful that it still hasn't been launched here in Oz due to supply constraints.

Cramer is also a big fan of Hublot, and includes the Meca 10 in his list. I saw a hands on at aBlogToWatch, and thought it was a cool piece. But reading the comments it sounds as though watch nerds are comparing it unfavourably to other, more prestigious maisons. I think that they're missing Cramer's point.
