Ha, apologies, didnt see it! Beautiful dogs and a great choice! My mum and dad still have one. Would love to see some progress as to how he or she develops.  They can be quite a handful as pups due to the mouthing, but are great fun and a beautifully breed.

Here's a pic of Ruby, who is scared to go on the kitchen floor the daft bugger….

Visla's are faaaast dogs. Sweet though.

My neighbors just got a pit bull puppy. I've never seen such a well behaved dog with no training. It follows his owner without command, and lays down when he's talking to someone.

pits are really good dogs when they have clear direction.  it's a shame they get such a bad rap because of bad owners/people/pack leaders

@madmonday Same ole over here. Living the dream.

We have a dog fighting problem here in Maryland, there are tons of pits with ripped up faces that need new homes when the dog fighting rings get broken up. My wife and I try to get involved, but it's like trying to plug a leaking dam with spackle.

The same qualities that make for a good ("game") fighting dog also make for a good family pet, strangely enough. A good fighting dog is a dog that fights other dogs when you tell it to, not a dog that attacks everything in sight.

That's why police generally use German Shepherds or Belgian Malinois: strong/fast and HIGHLY trainable. Any dog that can't turn it off on command doesn't have the temperment for that type of work.

I feel that these days people are generally scared of anything that could potentially cause harm, regardless of intention, mindset, or even factual statistics.

I read somewhere that chihuahuas and dachshunds have the highest incidence of unprovoked attacks, but nobody talks about it. It's the one big dog that rips off someone's face that causes a negative stereotype.

My rotties are as gentle as can be, they even walk next to the baby so she can use them for balance now that she's learning to walk. It's pretty shitty that people are scared of them.

Both both dogs were abandoned - luckily Daphne was fostered by one of or friend until we could buy our first house a few years ago, but buddy found us in a rainstorm.
Here is what he looked like the day he stopped me on my front porch. Still breaks my heart that anyone could just leave an animal to fend for themselves.
Poor guy dosnt have any bottom teeth. The vet says he was probably chewing on rocks since he was out alone for so long.  Heartworm positive, flea positive - everything was against him.  Luckily, almost two years later, he is still with us causing havoc haha

Thanks Black Orchid - they were our children before we had children, and we always are ready to welcome another pup into our home if it's the right time.

And as Trick Hell pointed out, Pits were Nanny Dogs… Just like ours is:

She always wants to be with us while the kids are up.

Sadly, buddy just likes to steal the babies stuff:

@TrickHell I don't have much experience with Chows, I know they have a reputation for biting kids in the face. I wonder if it's precipitated by the fact they look like teddy bears and the kids are roughhousing with them before the Chow gets comfortable with it.

I do the same thing on Youtube with rotties. Someone would say how they're scared of big black dogs (I don't know why the fur color matters) and I show them videos of Rotties mauling children with their tongues and smiles.

Funny story about Hex and Lia from several months back: when Neener was learning to crawl, Lia would soldier crawl behind her on her belly (cutest thing ever), and Hex decided she needed help and flipped her ass over head. Neener just laughed.

Hex was a total pain in the ass the first couple of months. Everytime the baby cried, sneezed or farted, he would go into full on protection mode. For the uninitiated, crying, sneezing and farting is ALL THEY FUCKING DO the first several months.
