Went to a tasting/sharing event yesterday and I'm still on overload. 8 or so different Tree House, Lawson's including Double Sunshine, Hill Farmstead, and the toast of the day was sharing a Big John vintage 2012!

Chimay Rouge 2002. Past its peak, but interesting taste nonetheless… Taste of fresh earth, smells like a musty cellar... Plus some port (oxidation)...

Pretty good, Backwoods Bastard is better

Really good. Like dunking a gingerbread cookie in an espresso.

And not available in Texas. 😠
Just like I told you, sometimes it's cheaper and easier to sell in another country than another state…

I think I might go out to Jester King next weekend, it's been too long.

Hop Notch from Uinta at lunch today, not bad.

Picked up a four pack of this Dogfish Head Immort Ale, so far pretty good. I like how oaky this one is.

Also got a couple Coffee-Okie's from Prairie, might open one after this Immort.

DFH has some solid offerings. The owner of my favorite tavern is buddies with the owner Sam.  Needless to say he gets some rare stuff and I get to try said rare stuff.  120 min IPA on tap is,something all its own.

I've never really been disappointed with anything from DFH, aside from that Festina Pêche I tried last year.
I'm sitting on a couple bottles of 120 minute to see how they age, might crack one open soon.
                                Also this is insanely good…

Gotta get me some Prairie. I have a couple 120s vintage 07 I plan to crack next November. Hope they are still good.

I'm admittedly a bit of a Prairie fanboy, but this Coffee-Okie is one of the better beers I've had from them.
I really want to get to know more about Belgian beers, but with the way Texas has their licensing set up I'll probably not be able to try out many.
I know Jester King has been trying to help Cantillon with their distribution fees in Texas, but who knows how that's going.

To be fair, Bastard is a Scotch Ale, so it's a bit of apples and oranges. I have heard told that the Central Waters BBA Scotch Ale is better. I really like those Dragons Milk though, particularly some of the variants.

Bourbon: because living in Kentucky just makes you want to drink
