@Graeme I LOVE that map shirt and I expect you will get a LOT of shrinkage - even if it's a bit big, these map shirts make awesome light jackets. I have the cavalry twill and that sucker looked like a kimono on me before I soaked it.  I have worn the heck of my MN topsiders and really like them (equally as well as the Okinawas). The construction of this style trousers is just so cool with the wraparound legs.  And like most of the fine garments folks on this forum enjoy, these things just get better and better with every wear.  Be sure and post some post-soak pictures.

My first pair of RCs were size 12 and I had to have them resoled and reworked to a 12.5 by Brian the Bootman.  They were just too tight, and I did not care for the leather soles.  These blacks are size 13 and fit perfect.  I was worried they might be a .5 size big and I'd need an insole or extra heavy socks, but they are like butter - they feel like house slippers.  I sure did not need another pair of black boots but I'm so glad I got these… as @seanocono said, the "leather is really nice".  I hope someone will post up some pics of these with some wear so I know what I can look forward to.

I also got this over the holidays… Gunslinger jumper and Americano vest.  Soaked the jacket and worn it just a few times - it is one stiff MF (Mister Freedom  😉 ).  But the raw unbleached fabric is amazing - it kind of smelled like farm animals when I unboxed it.  The blue corduroy vest is also pretty cool.

Both shirt and trousers have shrunk somewhat after soaking. The fit on both has improved, though the pants are now a too tight around the waist now.

I'll post pictures when they've finished drying off. They were still a bit damp this morning.

I guess that's Christophe Loiron's way of telling me I need to go on a diet! 😶

@Bluegrass what size shoe do you normally take, particularly in Vibergs and Redwings? I'm a US 14, 13 in Vibergs and Redwings, and was thinking of getting a pair of the MF Trooper Boots.

I like the Gunslinger Jumper. Can't see the vest too clearly there.

I am a US 12.5/13, 12 in Viberg.  Trooper boot is same last as the Road Champs.  So a 13 Trooper Boot is most likely too small for you I'd guess.

Good thing that I didn't order a pair up. 🙂

Post soak picture of my Map Shirt and Top Siders. The fit has improved somewhat. 😉

Here's a shot of the soak. I used a limited edition Le Creuset pan to hold the garments down. I had to keep the French theme going…

I also picked up a Continental Shirt in ERDL camouflage, rather than pay postage. 😉

That photo makes me feel as though I've got my own Action Man figure, just need the scar on the cheek and Eagle Eyes. 😛

I've not soaked this yet, partially because there's a rather complicated process involved. The Mister Freedom recommendation is:

                • Initial cold soak.

                • Run through a spin dry cycle.

                • Then line dry.

The shirt has a bit of a weird fit. I think that the seams have been cut more like a blazer, so there's a restriction of movement. Mister Freedom say that it won't work on every frame, and it's not suitable for playing beach volleyball. I'd agree on both counts, and I'm not entirely it's suited to my particular shape.

It is a cool piece, though.

The map shirt is looking good and might even shrink a little more with a wash/agitation. The top siders are ace!
I like the continental, but I think that it looks best unbuttoned and super casual. It's a really cool shirt, I almost snagged the chambray but the shoulder measurements/cut looked snug for me.

@Graeme i am digging the MN tux!  Fit looks great - you want to be able to wear the map shirt over something.  And the pants will stretch out as you wear them.

I always do a machine cold-rinse and spin-dry cycle (no detergent) with my new MF gear (turned inside out) - the cycle takes about 30 minutes.  Soaking it in the sink or tub is too complicated and imo unnecessary.  The rinse and spin cycle gives me the agitation I want, the garment is totally immersed of course, and the spin throws off the excess water. Then I put the garment on and smooth out the wrinkles before I hang to dry.

                      Thanks.

I don't have a washing machine at present. It's on my shopping list for the next time I get paid. So a sink is the next best thing.

I think that the idea is to leave the wrinkles in when soaking the Continental shirt.

I think it's built just like the chiller vest so I imagine it would warmish. I'm sure it's no Canada Goose though.
I had a hard time wrapping my head around this collection but I did end up buying the chambray Tonkinoise. The fit is generous but I think I have some more shrinkage to deal with even after two cold soaks. This shirt is packed with cool details and is much more wearable than the product pics would have you believe. In fact, I like this shirt so much I MIGHT get the denim version as well.

@zatenm that jacket caught my eye too - I'm not generally a camo guy - but I guess you could say I'm "camo-curious" - with this being reversible, that is imo a very cool feature. I think it is a favorite of this collection for me.  I also liked the measurements.  Unfortunately I don't have the budget since I picked up the black Road Champs and the Gunslinger Jumper recently. Basically I talked myself off the ledge.  However I'd love to see "someone on the forum"  😉 pick this up so I could live vicariously through them.  I think it would be a good weight - and you could layer under it if it's real cold.

@Anesthetist I also picked up the Tonkinoise and I thought exactly the same a you - I love the fabric, versatility and the details, and like you, it made me want it in the snow denim.  However given said budget considerations I am currently exercising restraint and impulse control (one day at a time…). Oh, and you're killing it with that vest!

I would've bought the gunslinger but the sleeves were too long for me  😞 One of my favorite jackets!

Also, on topic of camo - if you are on Instagram check out bothrops1, he does camo right when he busts out in it - no duck dynasty or heavy militia vibe whatsoever…..  😞
