ok, i finally got some pics uploaded. i lost all of the ones i shot with my phone,, but i have the first leg of my trip still…

September 20th i flew to Chicago to meet up with some friends of mine who are in a band called Nails who had been on tour for a couple of weeks already...

this was definitely the worst coffee i had my entire trip. i wasn't expecting much considering it was airline coffee. at least the coke was spot on.

later that night i made it over to Buzz Killer Espresso

I had a cup of Amaro Gayo from the Bull Run Roasting Co out of Minneapolis

they were recommended to me from the fine folks at Wormhole Coffee whom I visited the next morning.

I had a cup of their own blend called the Starlounge/Hangover & a blueberry muffin
This place was pretty cool. They had a 80's tv/movie vibe going on, including a living room setting with a tv/atari set up, 80's movie posters, lunch boxes and an actual DeLorean inside the cafe. Very neat place.

The rest of day was spent driving from Chicago to Baltimore with a 2 hour stop in Pittsburgh to play a quick show. Between Chicago & Pitt i had a quick crappy starbucks latte at a rest stop but that pic was lost on my phone.

Baltimore was absolutely miserable. Miserably hot and humid, crappy coffee and an even crappier show. Danny Lilkler did offer to smoke weed with me, but i declined since I don't smoke (sorry guys), but it was pretty cool nonetheless.

      Doing merch

On the 23rd I finally made it to Brooklyn and I was stoked to find out that the one coffee place that I was really looking forward to going to was a half a mile from the club.

Cafe Grumpy had been on my radar for a while since I heard about their $12 cup of coffee.
They weren't offering any $12 cups while I was there but I did enjoy a $5 cup of Paso Ancho from the Carmen Estate which was voted the Best of Panama for 2010.

After Brooklyn was off to CT

Bright and early I hit up a Dunkin Donuts waiting for a buddy of mine. From there we went and did a 5k walk for the CT Children's Medical Center around the West Hartford Reservoir

Later that day I took a bus up to Albany where I was meeting back up with my friend's band the following night. After the show we took off for Philadelphia. Originally the next show was supposed to be in Boston but that got canceled so a quick show in the Philly area was put together.

      Philly = Gangland

We left our friends house to head to the show which was "about an hour outside of the city" and we drove for what seemed like an eternity til we started down a long driveway which ended what could have easily been the location of a klan rally or something out of Deliverance.

Apparently they have shows here on occasion. It was in a little shack type building and it actually turned out pretty cool with a bunch of kids. And the sound was way better than the night before in Albany at an actual club.

The next night was back to New Haven, CT at the Lily Pad, which is a small room upstairs from the main rock club Toad's Place.

The show here was exactly what I remembered CT shows to be like. During the first song a few kids starting moshing and were instantly grabbed by a few good sized security guards who were immediately confronted by about 20 kids and a big shoving match between kids and bouncers made its way towards the entrance of the club. Apparently the Lily Pad has a strict "No Moshing" policy, which is dumb when you are going to have HC/Metal bands playing. But everything seemed to end peacefully because the crowd of kids returned along with the bouncers and the rest of the show went on without a hitch, including kids 'dancing'.

After New Haven, I bailed on the rest of the Nails tour to hang out with friends and visit my family who I hadn't seen in a number of years.

One of my best friends had gotten us tickets for a Red Sox/Yankees game at Fenway. It turned out to be a pretty crappy night weatherwise but we made the drive from Albany to Boston just in case the game was played.

We sat in the rain for a while and then the tarp came off the field and the ground crew went to work.

Unfortunately just as soon as the tarp came off it went right back on and the game was finally called around 10:30pm after we sat there for over two hours.

Regardless, it was still a fun night and the game was rescheduled for the following night, which was beautiful, and the sox beat the yankees.

The following week I pretty much spent it with my mother and sisters catching up on lost time.

I did find my way back to nyc for New York Comic Con on the 8th of October and grabbed one more quick pic while hanging out at my friend's table where he was trying to sell some toys.

Hopefully the coaster helped out a little.

Sorry again for this taking so long to get up. Not having a computer with me for the whole trip was a bit rough but it also felt good to be away from it at the same time. The coasters are now on their way to their next destination.
      Thanks

sounds like you're pretty into coffee; i just started working at a coffee joint and handcrafting espresso sure has a steep learning curve!

where are you from/how do you like your espresso/what region/tones of coffee do you like? 🙂

                The coasters have arrived.

First off, thanks to havingmysay for including some rad stickers/pins.

                One of the three coasters.

The uncapping & pour of a Dogfish Head 60-minute IPA.

                Mmmmm.

The bag they were packed in.

They accompanied me to play some cards with the guys.  Unfortunately I don't have any other pictures from poker because I was too focused on losing all my money again.

                Until next time!

with that coaster you were probably able to leave the table with a lot more cash than the 20 bucks you put down, right ?

Haha no Beats….I've been on a pretty bad losing streak lately.

So today I threw on some headphones and took some pictures of things around my house.

How can you resist taking pictures in the fall? 🙂

                    Strapped in!

                    View from my house.

                    Old bolt on my barn/garage.

                    Hey there lil' buddy.

An old iron grate on the outside of the basement wall.

Some origami my girlfriend brought me on her latest visit.  I'm going to find a way to put it on my cat's head.

Back to the coaster….enjoying one or two of these as I post this!

How's the black & tan?  I downed plenty of Yuengling back when I lived in Jersey, but I stuck to the lager.

If I recall it right, they should cool down the whisky without the negative effects of ice cubes. But I still prefer uncooled single malt from a snifter:-) Better for the tongue as it loses its sensitivity when the drink is too cold and you can taste the whisky better from a snifter than from a tumbler. Sorry, I'm a snob concerning whisky…
