Catch of the day [Fishing]

Had my first go at LRF last week. Weymouth Old Harbour

Still no sea trout this season, being super unlucky.. At least I'll offer a few snaps of my hunting grounds.

Last night I had my first beach session of the season.  10:30 - 04:30.

1 small Starry Smooth Hound  (expected at this time of the year)
1 small Codling (unexpected for this time of year)

No pics, as it was pissing down, windy and uncomfortable.

Not exactly an unfettered success….

For me today:

1 quite big gar pike
1 small cod
2 lost sea trouts.. It's a love/hate thing when they jump, it's awesome but the risk of losing the fish is greater.

There was a fucking seal ruining our fishing today, but kinda fun watching it eat all my trout..

Cleaned my fishing 2014 album and found this one to share. My daughter. It was her 6 year old birthday last summer.
West norwegian coast. In the mountains. Her 2 first trout! She was so proud!

So do I, @Giles ! It's right by the Öresundsbron (Öresund bridge), connecting Malmö to Copenhagen. It's a popular fishing spot, but we were completely alone today. Well, apart from the seal..

Dang, of corse it is.  I used to go over it a lot when I had business in Malmo…..If my memory serves me correctly, I'd fly into Copenhagen and catch the train to Malmo, does that make sense....?

Yes, makes total sense! We've got an airport as well, but really, we kinda treat Kastrup as our own. It's only a 20 min train ride.

I was invited out tonight, but have to go to London instead - BALLS…..

Only garfish today. They hit the coast really hard in May, so it's pretty impossible to catch anything else during daytime. Hopefully doing some night fishing tomorrow, for sea trout and cod.

A beautiful evening finally gave me the first sea trout of the season! Which is kinda late haha.. Made me super happy though. Unfortunately no pics, released it as fast as I could. Such great fighters, unlike the lame garfish. I also caught a fish I've never caught before, wikipedia says that the english translation is saithe or coalfish. Almost fought like a trout, very strong and several rushes.

A good night indeed!

Nice ones @RedStripe - can't wait for perch season to hit here in Malmö. They come in from the sea during autumn, and the canal run through our city centre so it's super accessible.

I finished my masters thesis this week, had to treat myself to a new rod from Westin.

Congratulations on finishing the thesis. Peter, I remember finishing my masters, it was a relief !!!

Hope you have good luck with your new rod. I've just got a couple of Mike the Pike lures from Westin, they look brilliant.

I watch a lot of kanalgratis on youtube, and it looks like the fishing in Sweden is good
