"The Stevenson Overall Company was relaunched from the encounter of Zip Stevenson and Atsusuke Tagaya. We have been always aiming in progress by Stevenson Overall Company.
The brand originally existed in Portland, Indiana in the United States in 1920's-30's. With the brand relaunch in 2005, the collection was developed from Stevenson's and Tagaya's shared deep interest vintage denim and leather goods. They aimed to redevelop the process of creating jeans with a “flat felled seam” that are constructed with the sewing methods used before the 1920's. The reason they keep using this unconventional sewing method is that they value the original taste from the hand made goods that has been consistent from the time of the original brand establishment. The varieties in the collections are created with inspirations from vintage clothes, fabrics and art and they keep pursuing the designs and details that were lost but not forgotten at this time and reassembling as suitable clothes for this modern time which is “nostalgic but new, modern and universal”."
Last year, we met up with the Stevenson Overall crew in Bread and Butter Berlin tradeshow, talked to Zip Stevenson and hang out a little throughout the event. We got a chance to find out more about Stevenson Overall concept and products. The more we know, the more intrigued we become.
During November 2014, in Japan, we made a point to visit Atsu-san and discuss the possibilities of bringing Stevenson Overall into Singapore. And here they are (partially)… there are more to arrive very soon.
So why Stevenson Overall Co?
Well, if we were to talked about the high quality workmanship of this 'Made in Japan' brand, it will be a norm comparing with all Tuckshop & Sundry Supplies's brands. One good reason is that Stevenson Overall Co. is an old brand from 1920s-30s, relaunched in 2005 with pure passion by two men, Zip Stevenson and Atsusuke Tagaya. Both are avid vintage and denim lover.
As what Tuckshop & Sundry Supplies believes, any brand done with passion, qualities will certainly be ensured. This is why Stevenson Overall Co. products is in Singapore now.
Stevenson Overall Co. La Jolla 727 is a slim-tapered, modern fit.
Stevenson Overall Co. Ventura 737 is a straight fit.

The first two models from Stevenson's denim line that we carry is currently the 'La Jolla 727' and 'Ventura 737', jeans that are more than just inspirations from the past.

When buying a pair of jeans, fit and cut should always be a factor in order to achieve great fades and a proper wear. Here's an overview of the fitting:
-The slim-tapered 727 works well for anyone looking for a modern slim-fitting cut, slim in the thighs and tapered from the knee down to the hem. With a more tapered hem, it can be worn casually with sneakers. Developed from the slim straight cut jeans worn by university students in the 1960's, rocking this with a pair of Jack Purcell's ain't an issue.
-The straight-cut 737 is neither anti-fit nor 1947's wide straight cut, the 737 is a borderline straight which provides ample space at the thighs before relaxing to a slight taper from the knee to the hem. Providing comfort for the legs, yet a modified straight that blends in well when worn with modern-cut tops. If you prefer a roomier top block and the vintage 1950's look, this pair could very well fit your checklist.
