My wife is from Denmark and she has brought some traditions with her.
In Sweden it is mostly common to use electrical light in the christmas tree. In Denmark however it is more common, as I have understood it, to use real candles.
We tend to have a big Chrsitmas tree. This years tree is smaller then we usually have. We got around 35 candles in it.
I got a small fire extinguisher and a fire blanket if it comes to that.
But the tree is fresh and we give it alot of water. So it is not very dry.

It is kind of special when you turn of all the electrical light and then light the candles in the tree. See the flickering shadows and the light being reflected in the christmas decorations.

When we do this we usually just sit infront of the tree. Looking at it maybe sipping on some "glögg". It is a christmas drink made of spiced wine. We do this until the candles have burnt down.

              Last years tree.
Was a bit smaller then this year.
This photo was taken on new years eve. We used up the last candles we had.

The last two years we have had trouble finding a tree big enough. We got 3,3 meters to the ceiling and we prefer the tree to almost touch it.

This tree was from 2010. Proper size. 🙂 Picture is from our old apartment.

Sounds wonderful. All the lights out & the illuminated tree & wine..
