After only a dozen wears or so i lost two button reinforcers which resulted in the left hand cuff button coming off and the upper chest one hanging loose :(. Can these reinforcers be picked up from say a craft shop easily? As i've not wore mine since as i was so disapointed that this happened so quick.

Yeah Giles i was rather gutted to be honest as when i first got hold of it and saw those reinforcers i thought "nice touch" only to find out that some were not quite up to the job. I'm sure it was just a bit of bad luck in my case and anyways 100 % of the product is not going to be 100% all the time some small issues will creep in now and again but thanks very much for the impending replacements i appreicate it greatly.

Ok G.  I  know you and Haraki-san stand by your products.  These are the same buttons/reinforcers used in the IHSH 35, IHSH21bk, IHSH26, IHSH26bk.  I know who to call if/when I need replacements!

Haraki is very embarrassed by this.  He is looking into the issue so that we can make sure that we attach these buttons on a better fashion going forwrad.  In the mean time.  If anybody needs replacements, please just drop me a PM.  Giles

The official JP site lists the IHSH-21 as new … something about a new fit? They still have the old and new versions up? Sorry if this was discussed elsewhere...

Sorry to say 3 buttons hanging off my new shirt after only 2 days - I think there is to much tension in the thread, one of the reinforcers is cracked.

No biggie for me - I tend to cut buttons off and re-sew using a threaded shank . . . good for heavier materials

This is a top class piece of clothing which I am seriously impressed with (and anyway I have my own personal little thing about how buttons should be attached).

Ask Haraki what he thinks of threaded shanks or shanked buttons - using a heavy material the fastener needs some play, a bit like the button fly on denims

The ones you have are OK.  What the factory did not do this time was give some play in the button, he specced about a mm of give.  They sewed them on tight and the pressure just busts the thread.  G

Hey folks - any ideas on how to approach repairs for this?  The area on the left elbow started to wear out a bit and it finally broke open the other day.  I noticed that a lot of my shirts have a little extra wear on the left elbow so it obviously has something to do with how I'm sitting at work.  But that said I'm a bit disappointed that this shirt hasn't stood up to the rigors of the modern desk job.

Any suggestions?

Fife, what surface is your elbow on? Also, do you rub it subconsciously? It is only chambray. The wear has nothing to do with the construction. I figure if I don't wash my shirts until they really need to be, that this will happen eventually. I am sure you could have it reinforced with the darning machine through SE. How many times a week do you wear it? Sorry, just curious…
