The rains have begun…The Bay Area Winter has reared her pretty head early this year. We barely had a summer to speak of. I pretty much lived in my IH shirt jackets & IH denim jacket all year long...it was too cold to be anywhere without 'em ! I love the rains though, so I ain't complaining. Hope ya'll are having a great day. In about an hour, I've got to take Lacy down to her annual vet appointment. Cost ? Around $350 -- which includes all her vaccinations, 6-months worth of HeartGard (monthly heartworm pills), 6-months worth of Advantage Plus (flea/tick preventative), as well as annual dog licensing fees. She's now 10 years old !

dead – you said it bro. "...chill and adorable..." is what Lacy is, exactly. She's s-o-o-o-o much wiser than me, it's not even funny. I just look at her graying whiskers and into her deep, soulful eyes -- and they tell me "Stop worrying girlfriend. When you're my age, you'll realize that life is nothing but a big hoax...worrying doesn't solve problems and gets you nowhere fast ! Just live and let live mothafucka !". Lacy used to be a hyper pain-in-the-ass...but in the last two years, she's mellowed a lot.

On another note – don't know if you guys heard -- I just now found out by reading SuFu. But Kiya (SELF EDGE GOD) just had open-heart surgery. No shit. Such a young man...32 years old ! He's fine and recuperating...it was a birth defect or something. He insisted on opening SELA before going into surgery. Seriously.
I saw him a couple of months ago at the SESF Shorts Cut Off Party...he looked perfectly bubbly, healthy, and fine to me.
But again -- everything I know, I gathered by reading Kiya's own announcements on SuFu -- but if he hadn't have had this surgery, he'd be dead in 2 years.
Life has a way of fucking with your mind, doesn't it ?

Yeah, Kiya kept it pretty much to himself about this. It was apparently a birth defect. It's either do the surgery now or die "later". Think he is doing well now and recuperating. He literally has an "iron" heart!

I'm starting to get a complex now, after viewing Beatle's and Evilcrayon's jeans in the evo section. I tried as much as I could to talk myself out of it, but I insisted on hot-soaking my IH 301S (in the bathtub) for no apparent reason today. They are currently out on my back patio drying in occasional glimpses of sun, post-rain.
Why ? Why ? Why did I have to do this ? I am growing impatient. I want some evo beauty to pop out of these jeans. I've washed/tumble-dried them once (right after purchase, which I always do). And I've worn these for about 2 months straight now…but last year, I wore them another 2+ months straight as well. So, these jeans easily have 4-5 months of continual wear in them. They're still damp in these photos but my evo is fucking lame. Oh, and guess what ? During the soak, I lost little indigo...I mean, there was no blueness in the water. But the worst part was -- the water wasn't even dirty ! Like, I could barely fucking detect anything...it was a little brownish-greyish, but that's it. These jeans remain, much to my frustration and chagrin, practically new-looking.
I don't really get too excited about wallet fades because they're relatively easy to get. It's the rest of the jeans -- the legs, the knees, etc...which excite me when they turn. But mine virtually haven't !

those are iron hearts for you… its okay i feel the same way about my 1634's
and there is evo. i think a pair of iron hearts worn hard with intense evo for half a year to a year is no better or worse than a pair worn for many years with slower evo.
iron hearts are meant and built to last so theres no shame in slow evo because each pair is unique and so is each person's lifestyle

Thanks cows. And wanna know something ? (I'm sure you already know…) -- Sugar Cane Okis and Hawaiis are MUCH WORSE. They're way-y more stubborn than even Iron Hearts IMHO. Wouldn't surprise me if Sugar Cane Okis and Hawaiis even last longer than IH...longer than you want them to last (so you can justify buying new jeans) ! I wore my Sugar Cane Okis for 2 months straight and they still look brand new. Don't even have wallet fades.

^ my 634S-B's I've been wearing for a little over 50 days and they already have some pretty defined combs, atari fades on the back pockets & belt loops, wallet fade, front pocket embossment (FML!!!! FRONT POCKET FADEZZZZ), whiskers pretty much set and a repair that has been made on my right knee (told you there would be a hole in these things before 4 months Simon*626)
And I have yet to start riding my bike. Once I add that to the mix, I'll have a pretty dope looking pair of 21ozers! But keep it up shubbz, its all about being mean to your jeans. Running up, popping them in the mouth for talking back, spitting on their open wounds and cutting their eye-lids off and feeding them nothing but sleeping pills. The change of color will come, if you will it….
