DFC….nice one on finding that Henckels ....like others said , go at it,slow
and if it helps watch more ytube vids on shaving ( helped me ) . I found stropping
is the main key after getting the right angle . My first 100 times stropping probably
killed my edge , resulting in shite shaves. Stick with it and ask questions .

      Cheers

Thanks jock. I think I'll go with ddtrash's advice of starting with my cheeks and  to use the safety razor  for neck and chin till I get a good feel for it. Ill definitely be here with any stropping or technique questions as needed.

I tried and found it tricky , so taught my left hand to not kill me . Took time but
eventually got it . Feels great when you finally achieve that nice smooth shave , one guy said it takes
one hundred shaves to be relatively skilled on the straight .

Treated myself to a new straight razor, well, new to me anyway, it's a Taylor's Eye Witness 6/8 made sometime between 1865 and 1925, and proper Sheffield steel, none of this German rubbish 😉
The 2 shaves so far have been great 🙂

So, after seeing a post from @Graeme (in the wallets thread) about Baldwin leather, I checked out their site, liked what I saw, and decided to see what they could do for my growing straight razor collection. After several emails and sketches from Jimmy (owner/creator of Baldwin Leather), I went with a 6 slot roll, which arrived this morning. Super pleased with it so thought if share on here 🙂

Still one slot left though…... 😉

Tried the clubman when I had my first handlebar, it's what I can get local. Found it doesn't hold well enough. The beardbrand will get a try for sure though.

^ are u talking about stache wax? If so, ive tried both the beardbrand and the clubman. Clubman being more of a paste and water soluable. Found it held ok, but not real long. As soon as it gets wet it starts to fail. The beardbrand is def a wax and nicer to use but is only a medium hold, which i found didnt hold well but lasted longer. Beardbrand seems to be a great company tho with great customer service. Their oils are great

Very nice set you've got there jock! Do you rotate, or just choose randomly? I'm trying to stick to a rotation with my 5, but some days I just want to use a particular one 🙂

Thanks pp. That was essentially the problems I had with the clubman. If I sweat at all it was done, and even if not in a couple hours it was useless. I was looking for more of a real wax, so the beardbrand might be a better fit. I can get a solid curl on the stache without, but parts look a bit wild and I want it more structured. Same goes for the beard as it gets longer. White collar job and unkempt facial hair don't mesh well! LOL
