I do miss oak leafs brews a ton…
Went to an event put on by the Ontario Craft Brewers association for work the other night. There is some fantastic beer coming out of that Provence. Flying Monkey and Nickel Brook both had fantastic showings.
Chocolate Manifesto by Flying Monkey is easily the best chocolate stout I've had...

Grand Reserva > Reserva. The 2nd aging in calvados barrels really takes the edge of the aggressive taste of the French oak. Nonetheless, this is stellar!..
Pannepot in all its variances = the best dark ale Belgium has to offer… I've yet to try the Real ale though: http://www.ratebeer.com/beer/struise-pannepot-real-ale/265792/

I made my first RateBeer review. Am I now officially a beernerd?..
Vintage 2009. Bottle from Geers. Dark, almost black, with a beautiful red shine to it when held in the light. Quickly disappearing tan head. I had the Reserva the day after this, and I must say the second aging on calvados barrels does wonders for this Grand Reserva: the acidity of the French oak is much more balanced and less prominent on the tongue. Velvet like smoothness, I only had a real hint of booze (calvados) on the last sip. Hiding its alohol % very well. My favourite Belgian beer?.. My favourite Belgian beer.
