555 is still a bit slimmer I believe

If you check the measurements there's very little difference between the two. The leg opening is more or less the same on the 555-01 and the 301s. The 301 has a lower rise though (I prefer the 555 for this reason).

I have had both cuts the calf  was definitely slimmer on 555. Could just be my pair. Also remember IH and SE measure differently.

The IH site says the w34 actually measures 35.5 inches. Anyone find they measure closer to an actual w34? No idea how to size!

Go by the measurements in the size chart and not the tagged waist size. Use a tape measure to check the dimensions on a couple of your favorite pairs of jeans (be sure to follow these guidelines: http://www.ironheart.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=2835.0). The 21oz denim will easily stretch out an 1" with a bit of wear, and can stretch 1.5"+ if you don't wear a belt and are particularly active in them. Remember to take that into consideration. If you're still uncertain about the sizing, you can always shoot the IH UK team an email to see if they can help you pick out a pair that's close to your ideal measurements. Paula has provided me with a lot of help with that in the past 🙂

No problem! I realize now that the measurement info was probably unnecessary; I see that you've got "IH Deity" status so you're probably familiar with it already haha.

I had Paula pick out a pair of 555-01 (tag size 31) that measured 32" in the waist initially, but I think most pairs do run 1.5" bigger than tag size. FYI after 7 or 8 months of wear and a couple of washes, my pair is close to 33.25". I wear a belt most of the time. I hope that helps.

hello, I'm sorry if it has been asked before but what's the difference between 01 and 02? which one is for whom? I'm aware that the 01's are heavier but I remember a member saying they're softer or something? also, since both models run big, I assume it's ok to size down 1 or 2? thanks.

01 is 21oz 02 is 18oz and raw. The 21oz may be heavier but breathes much better then the 18oz which is a much tighter weave. I would not recommend sizing down on 18oz denim. It does not stretch as easy as the 21oz.

thanks, that's really helpful! I didn't know a 21oz pair can be cooler than an 18oz one. I guess 01 is for me since it tends to get pretty hot here. I'm size 30 and will buy size 28 in the 01's since I'd like a slimmer fit. sounds good?

21oz are soft and comfy. I wear them all year round.  Great decision the 01 is an amazing pair.

I will echo that the 21 oz is fairly forgiving as far as stretching but I think that sizing down 2 on a jean this slim is not the smartest choice. I'm a 30 waist and the 30 was too small in the 666 18oz and the 31 is just right with the 21oz Beatle Buster. Just my opinion.

the problem is I really prefer 6.5" hem, which is why I'm eyeing 555 in the first place. and the model that has it is 01 size 28 and 02 size 29 after soak.

allow me to do some calculation. with size 28 in the 01's I'll get 29 of waist size, which hopefully will stretch to 30 over time. something wrong with that plan?

or should I get size 29 in 02's instead with 31 waist which probably will shrink to 30 and the 6.8 hem to 6.6?

also take into account that I live in a tropical country.

                                thanks again.

Be sure to check the thigh and rise measurements, as those might help you make your decision. Going by waist and leg opening alone could result in an uncomfortable fit, especially if you have muscular legs. I've learned that I can't handle jeans with a thigh less than 11" and a rise of 10" in my size. The thigh will stretch some in the 21oz denim if it needs to, but if it's too snug to begin with you might not be happy in the long run.

Like Monday, can't believe i'm rockin' skinny 🙂 I went tts and would advise anyone who doesn't leg-press an ice-ceam van 100 times a day to do the same. Waist is a little loose but the thighs are tight for now…will stretch out enough to be perfect though I reckon. Really nice cut.
