Me too Giles; I'm on holiday in Bournemouth for a week so I'm going to try to get a day down there.
I think I'll be rolling meat.

If you haven't seen these they're quite good/amusing.

Let me know, perhaps we can go together. I'll look at the vids later, but this is what I want to learn to do,  I've seen them doing it there and need to have a go.

will do Giles and if your ever in London on business, then you are more than welcome to be my guest on the river Colne http://www.uracs.co.uk/rickmansworth/

Also I'd recommend getting this, if you haven't already, a great general barbel book - its very informative, well written and humourous.

Also its only a fiver as they've got damaged spines (usually £25)

I went for a spot of dropshotting on the canal, second time trying this method.

Caught a small perch; I think I will give this a few more goes, because its active and fun 🙂

Then this little fella came along, quite pleased as it's the first (jack) pike I've caught. 🙂

Was just going through some photo's and thought I would share some of the better fish I have caught the last few times I've been out.

The first one is a West Australian dhufish. Excellent eating and was caught off the Abrolhos Islands about 30 nm from my hometown.

The second one is a Red Emperor. Again excellent eating and fighting fish. This was caught out from Coral Bay in north west Australia whilst on holiday earlier this month. Amazing part of the world if you ever get a chance to visit!

my search for big perch on the canal during close season ended up in loads of tiny pike, the biggest being just over a pound. 😶

back on the river after barbel on the 16th, blanked for 4 hour in the morning an four hours at night 😠

lovely to be on moving water though
