By the way, while I'm posting like a madman and shamelessly avoiding work, the PAM 111 has got be be the most beautiful Panny. Classic simplicity and utterly distinctive at the same time. I like the sandwich dials on the later series, though.

When I tried both the PO & the SOH on I just could't decide.
That's why my 8 year old made the decision.

Have you seen the PAM312?
I think that with the exception of some of the Special Editions, inparticular the 1950, the 312 is just about perfect, 1950 case, sandwich dial, automatic & non-magnified date.

Wow Dexter, you have been through a few, haven't you? Gotta agree with your final choice, too. The ultimate in simplicity- not even a second hand.
Triple- you're right, the 312 is fantastic. As much as I love simplicity in a watch, I do like to have a date window. And don't get me started on those godawful bubble magnifiers. Ugh, I hate those things.

The only watch that I think looks kinda right with a date magnifier is a Rolex Submariner.
Gotta agree with Simon, 007 should wear a Panerai !
I can't watch the scene on the train in Casino Royale when Vesper mentions the watch, talk about product placement & fuckin' embarrassing !!!

I swear, Triple, it's like you're in my head. I, too lust after the Big Pilot. I was in Las Vegas a while back and wandered into Bellusso in the Palazzo. It was deserted, so I ended up talking watches with the lone sales guy. After about 15 minutes, he started handing over various lovely things for me to try on; Vacheron Constantins, Breguets, Glashutte Originals, even a tourbillon from FP Journe that cost damn near as much as my house.
As wonderful as they all were, the only one that I really wanted was the IWC.
Elegant rugged simplicity. This is what James Bond would chose if he wasn't for the big fat Omega contract he's chained too.
