I'm lucky enough to live a block and a half from a school. That means nooo sexual predation. I looked that up and it was quite a suprise how many there are. I now skip those houses when I trick or treat.

Anyone - no way I want to sound negative or aggressive... I'm neither, mostly. But it kinda surprises me that you guys actually worry about it... Shit I have lots of ex-cons, junks and general crazy lads living in my hood. Never felt like I had to worry. If anything: it keeps the cops out, and problems are dealt amongst ourselves

I don't worry about it for me, but I have a small child.  Knowing the faces of any pedophiles in my immediate area is my job.  I get what you're sayin' though.

From a legal perspective, it seems questionable that sex offenders in the US are punished beyond the legally mandated sentence while other criminals (murders, drunk drivers, etc) can live their post-prison lives in anonymity.

Purely from a legal perspective: correct. But I think other sentiments come into play when you have a child…

Hi,

I am from Austria and live some 50 km south of Vienna.

Wanted to post some places of interest, but after my today's experience I want to share my ecstasy with you!

I just get back from the Vienna Life Ball - it was amazing, wonderful and exciting.
The event took place in front of the Vienna town hall.

Unfortunately a heavy thunderstorm stopped the outdoor ceremony. My wife and me could escape in the last second before we get soaked from the pouring rain.

A lot of prominent joined the event, such as Whoopi Goldberg, Bill Clinton, Liz Hurley, Dita von Teese and Patti LaBelle.

The Life Ball is one of the biggest AIDS charity events in the world and an internationally unique ball.

And: I was a spectator, not a guest
