What are people treating their Horse Hide Whites with? I have some Obenauf's LP. That would be fine, right?

Leftcoast - these boots (re-posted from prior page) are all nat. cxl BHs, 9-10 mos of regular wear, several times per week - stains across insteps are from indigo, and darkness on top of left boot is from motorcycle shifter.  I have not touched them with any sort of leather treatment or tried to clean them (they are not really dirty from normal streetwear).  hopefully this gives you an idea of how the cxl ages.

Thanks Bluegrass, that is helpful. Looks like the leather has hardly darkened at all.

I've applied Pecards Oil twice and I'm about to do it again.

Thanks Urbanwoodsman! They've aged really nicely. Interesting that in these photos, the Nat CXL and the distressed smooth look even more alike after 6 months of tough love than they did when brand new.

Are these the same boots? In this pic it's much easier to see the difference in the leathers. Is this what they typically look like in daylight?

              Yep, that should work well.

Yeah those are the same boots. I believe that image was fairly early on and was after being oiled. Every time I oil them the chrome sheen really comes back out in the CXL.

This is a better pic of  them in the daylight from about two months ago.

                  Those are looking great.

I need to take some proper pics of mine soon, but here are the toes of my red dog smooth. They've been dubbin'd, had Obenauf's LP applied, and recently polished. Back to LP in the next week or so in advance of proper winter.

here they are the morning after an obenaufing. I'll get some proper pictures of them when they're laced up and a little less tacky (sticky).

the first picture makes them look a little lighter than they really were. don't get me wrong, the obenauf's did darken them, but not as crazy as the pictures make it seem.

Tongue is the original color, I'm guessing?  They didn't darken too much, if so.

wore the new boots all day today at work. first few hours were awesome, now my feet and legs hurt. Mostly around the top of my ankle. the fabled "white's bite" area. these things make the semi dress look like sissy shoes.

I'm a little worried about the fit on the left boot. thats my smaller foot, and White's was really adamant about me wearing a 10b on that foot rather than the 10.5B that goes with the right one. Its kinda tight on the sides of my big toe and pinky toe. Hopefully that'll go away; I'm only 9 hours into the 80 hr break-in period.

if so, I'm thinkin' thats forever. or at least get used to it. I'd have a go at some lexol leather cleaner though. or saddle soap.
