We'll confirm the trip and I'll get back to you man, sure I can fly solo for a couple of hours. It will more than likely be Brugge though, the wife loves really old Flemish Art (that is not even a joke).

Direct train from Bruges to me - about 40' each way… No, I won't go to Bruges... Fucking tourists everywhere, man...

That's very tempting Mega… I'll let you know, not sure whether it'll be this year or next, but it's been probably 13 years since I last went to Nottingham.

And to keep this vaguely on topic:

The frighteningly tasty 0.5% Nanny State, hoppy imperial mild I've started to use as a palate cleanser/ way to pace myself for the inevitable increase up to 32% to round off the evening…

              Looking forward to it MorP.

BTW, I have actually discovered a beer store today with an okay selection of Belgian beers and it is a half hour drive out of Mansfield and into the rather pretty castle town of Newark.

              http://therealalestore.com/index.php/browse-by-country/belgian-breweries.html

The prices are obviously ridiculous but I am going to check it out on Friday with a quick trip to Newark with the family. I will provide pictures of the pretty scenery inside the shop, and might even take a snap of the castle too.

It may not look like much but:

Tactical Nuclear Penguin is certainly one of the best beers I have tried…

More in the line of a spirit than a beer, quadruple IPA that has been frozen several times, which means that the ABV tops out at 32%. At one time this was the strongest beer ever brewed. Until it was overtaken by 'Sink the Bismark': 41% and:

'The End of History' the beer that came housed in it's own taxidermist squirrel. The Brewdog Camden squirrel is apparently named Stephen :D. 50% ABV. I don't think I'll ever get the chance to try any :(.

The Sheffield Brewdog still has a bottle intact and for sale at £10'000.

After checking with the staff here, that sounds about right. I was under the impression that when it was released it was £75.00 and fairly available. Apparently there were only 12 ever made and the price was in the mid 100's of pounds :(.

                    To finish off the evening:

Woodford Reserve (my preferred Bourbon at the moment) and a bottle of Abstrakt 12. An IPA brewed with various berries. 11.7%. To take away.

Slightly better daytime pic of Stephen; yes I'm back in Brewdog Camden, last visit… I have to get back to Cheshire later. Decided to stop here for lunch :).

                        1/2 of Dead Pony Club…

Might buy one more bottle as another souvenir, not decided which yet...

                          Adam, what were your thoughts?

No, they didn't have any of the Tokyo* left :(. Got hold of a Stone: Old Guardian, oak smoked instead…

Dry hopped and bitter. Not entirely my thing, but really good nonetheless…

It was a worthy brew.  Sweet like a barley-wine (but not TOO sweet which was perfect), silky mouthfeel, nice clean finish.  I would like a bit more hoppy bitterness, but is was refreshing.  Wouldn't want more than one, but it was worth the price.

Well, started to get the Xmas beers in stock today. Which should ensure that we sell out of stock well before Xmas Day. My yearly favourite, suits me down to the ground…

I like the 8-bit art label :). Probably doesn't taste anything like the description in the book though 😞
