got my 2197 today… did anyone feel theirs looked a bit odd before the break in period... I dunno they are smaller in overall size than my other boots but kinda look like clown boots IMO right now.. im sure with some creasing set in this will change a bit but just curious of other first impressions

I get what you're saying. The toe looks bigger than the feel of the boot. They'll loosen up and look better with age

I had the black one and didn't like the look. The brown suits my eyes fine. I think it's a mental thing

yeah i picked up th brown… don;t know if I am just getting used to heavier duty boots with bigger heel ends or what but something just not sitting well with me at the moment.. Which is odd because I do like the way they look from what I have seen online... then again maybe I'm to tall and slim with huge feet to pull this look off..

They are definitely lighter than say a White's boot makeup and maybe that's the reason. It's no different than going from Levi's to IH. Could take some time to get used to or could just not be the thing for you

eh… I think im gonna wear em around the house a few days and see... I really was hoping they would be a good boot to compliment my slimmer fitting jeans (IH666s and s710x) so, like you said it may just be an adjustment since Ive gotten accustomed to the Vibergs lately. thanks for all the help bags

Just got these yesterday and I'm breaking them in today!  Red Wing Heritage Collection Engineers, Model 2991.  I initially posted them up for sale as soon as I tried them on yesterday, but I give them a chance today and I think I'm going to like these better than I expected!

Moonshine….I love those cork nitrile soles...they have a great resistance to them...not too soft and not too hard. Those boots look great. Redwings go through some changes as they breakin....much more so than other boots.

Can anyone give me some sizing advice regarding Red Wing 1907's?

I'm an 8D in the 8890's, another RW moc toe, so was going to go for the 8D in these too but heard that the 1907's fit a little smaller.  Apparently the 1907's have an insole in them which takes up some room.  Can these insoles be removed or do I need to size up to a 8.5D?

Any advice greatly appreciated as I'm probably not going to have a chance to try before I buy.

Didn't catch the size, they were closing up for the day so wasn't able to dig into everything but they had quite a few different pairs out on display for sale.  You might want to give them a call - 212.645.5513 - they were a bunch of boot nerds (and I of course mean that in a good way) They were very excited after they asked my buddy and I what boots we were wearing and we responded Alden and Viberg.  Gave them an opening to talk about boots.  Very nice people in there, going to go back when I have more time to look around.
