In retrospect, it's probably my washing machine. I'm just pissed off with myself that I let this happen. I've put other denim in there, but I think it has to do with the extra stiffness of the fabric that's messing it up. I did actually presoak the jacket before tossing it into the machine, so it was plenty wet.

I'm hoping - as a fellow owner of this jacket - that you'll get this worked out. I've never felt so strongly about a piece of clothing from the get-go. It didn't need a single second to grown on me - I just instantly fell in love with it.

It would have only been bad news if one of those had been a L or XL, otherwise I am glad to see them done and gone! At least this way I know that there is no possibility of the S or M growing into a size that would work for me. THE ONE THAT GOT AWAY….....

So G I have a question. Why can't this jacket be made? I remember you saying something about Haraki-San not being able to source the material anymore but then what about the IH-801? Is the material different?

Is that the same fabric?.. I'm thinking of having mine overdyed to black anyway… I love the brown colour, but black is more my style...

Edit: it's just weird that the superblack is 500 $ whereas brown duck was 'bout 350 I think... So I assumed there was a difference in fabric...

There is.  The 9527J is super heavy and a) the fabric is super expensive and b) due to the weight and complexity of construction it is the hardest thing to put together that we make and c) I screwed up with the $350

I have not had a chance to speak to DougNg about this.  But I sent the images to Haraki.  This is his response (through Ayumi):

"That looks like a fade when you machine wash without letting material wet enough.
Haraki San can ask factory to overdye the jacket but dyeing in same brown colour is impossible. Black is possible, but you will get fade slightly during dyeing process anyway. Harakisan has a sample in almost same dye so he will send you the photo upon his return to Tokyo(in Okayama now). If he likes the result, Haraki san can overdye the jacket for him. "

I sent the jacket to Giles last week so he can send it to tokyo for the overdye
