Sometimes the blades need a "break-in" period. Feathers are so sharp that you might find your 3rd or fourth shave with them may be the best. Have you tried Astra platinum blades yet? They are my personal favorite. My skin couldn't deal with Feather blades.

    Good luck with your interview!

When I shave and am not using a straight edge I use feathers. I love them but, seawolf is correct shaved 4-12 will be your best the blades are very aggressive and need to be broken in.

I can second that, Astra blades work for me, never nicked myself with them, tried the Feather's once as part of a sample, but sliced myself on the first outing.

I'm planning to buy a Dovo straight edge razor once they come back in stock (the Skyfall effect apparently!), as I'm really curious and feel that after 4yrs using a DE razor it shouldn't be that big a step, will post in here once I've taken the plunge!

A trick I find helps with the Feather blades when new is to carefully run both edges across a cork.

This helps take a little of that "first time use, aggressiveness" out of the blade edge.  I find it helps get the blade to that sweet spot already mentioned after 3-4 shaves.

Platinum Persona's are another personal favourite, nice and sharp but a bit more forgiving than a feather.  A Feather will hunt down any nick or blemish and take the top off it, the Persona is more forgiving.

There is no 'I' in team …............ however there are five in 'individual brilliance'.

@seawolf/tmg, no I've not tried, but have a few in a new sample pack; next up.

@seawolf/d666/ddtrash, 3rd shave today on Feather really felt like it was finding it's grove. Odd concept that a slightly older blade gives a better shave.

            Thanks gents.

Had my third straight razor shave today and I'm definitely ready to dive in to going at it on my own. Wish me luck

That's true, and the price! However, the Merkurs tend to be a bit more aggressive. It all depends on what you like! (I have both, and I keep my Jaeger in my gym bag, and Merkur at home)

Not very original, but I like it… 200 ml. (6.7 oz) bottle cause it's cheap that way  😃

I typically wear either Guerlain Vetiver, Voyou, or Sous Le Vent. Almost out of Voyou and the Sous Le Vent is way too expensive and rare for daily use so more commonly the Vetiver or occasionally Geir Ness.
