      The Cuvee van de Keizer was slightly sweet and had a sour apple aftertaste.  This however is much drier and well balanced.  Totally different flavors from two BIG beers.  Gotta love the Belgians and their yeasts.

              That sounds pretty interesting.  How was it?

                  6pm = beer o'clock 🙂

                  This a current fave.  Not sure how it passed me by for quite as long as it did, given it's one of my favourite styles of beer these days.

                  With you on that one, great taste, really similar to a lot of US microbrewery IPA's, which I really like….sadly they're not easily available over here 😞

                    Needless to say, I am no expert, but I am excited to try it!

                      Remember when I told y'all how tempted I was to buy this in the beginning of December, but how the price wasn't right?.. Patience rewarded...

                      Nice 33cl. (not 25!) glasses, very good for blond beer. Oh and some random restock of the Gouden Carolus classic and the Straffe Hendrik quadruple…

                        Nice Eli.  I updated the post with a stock pic.  But Westy 12.

                        I need to look for the Straffe Hendrik at my local Philly place the next time I am there.

                            Haha, my college roommate is a big trader on beeradvocate….you want me to get in touch with him about it?  I don't know anything about sending beer in the mail though.

                                I actually, co-incidentally, just read about a bar in the town next to mine… They serve only Trappist beers, and also Westvleteren... My best mate is moving into this town in September, btw, so guess what the first thing we'll do is gonna be?.. Price: 3 €/ trappist... Specials: 2.5 €...  😃

                                  3€ for Trappist beer on tap? And 2.50€ specials?  No wonder you drink so much- that's (nearly) cheaper than bottled water.

                                    Not on tap per se… Although I read they're having Achel on tap... Achel being the least-known ATP that is... I only know I gotta get my arse over there asap...

                                    In my city, most trappist beers (bottles) are sold for around 3-4 € in bars though...

                                      Considering the only place with consistent trappist selection in Ottawa charges $15 dollars for a Westmalle Tripel (330 ml bottle), I have to agree with you on that Chris.  Fortunately, I got in touch with an agency here, so now I get better deals, but I will have to buy everything by the case.
