Yeah IJ, you're missing out.  I've had some amazing beers from lots of different countries.  You shouldn't write anything off just because of its nation of origin.

        Guys, it's not that
I just happen to like 'em more. I've tried some belgians, (beers), "better" ones and I let's say, they didn't rock my boat that much.

honestly, Im not a fan of Belgians myself either.  There is a taste that they all have, no matter what the style that I just dont care for.  I think its the type of yeast used, but not certain.  Thats what all my home brew friends say it is.  I have barely scratched the surface of the beers offered however, so Im just reporting my experience with the limited selection I have tried.

For me, a lot of Belgian beers I have tried have a kind of sweet after taste. My favourite kind of beers are dark, and full of hops taste, I tried an excellent black beer at "Brew Dog" in Nottingham on Saturday which ticked all the boxes.

yea, the aftertaste is what initially put me off about them.  We have a place called Beer Revolution in Oakland that I go to from time to time, but I have slowed down on my beer drinking, mostly due to pure laziness.

For me, a lot of Belgian beers have a tendency to err on the side of sweet-tasting.  The alcohol content has to go a long way to explaining this IMO, though I'll happily defer to the experts of the forum on that one if I'm way off…

Currently loving the US 'craft' style beers that are starting to be readily available here in the UK now - Goose Island IPA is a particular fave.

Goose Island is good, get some Blue Moon. Doug got me on it whilst in NYC, haven't been off it since I got back  😶

And yeh, not sure what it is about the abundance of American craft beers in UK supermarkets right now, but long may it continue  😉

if you like IPA, check out Pliney the Elder.  Its on some secret handshake type of shit just to get it around here, so you might not have much luck, but its one of the best IPA's I have ever had.

NOw you guys mentioned that, it really is the sweetness of the stuff I didn't like.

As I said I like Pale Ale's, bitters, porters, Stouts…on the other hand good Pils is always worth the money. Even a good lager is fine. Hoppiness is good...

Just don't make me drink  sweet beer....

Strongbow.  Yes a cider but I'm gluten-intolerant (I just won't tolerate that damn gluten)

A little hard to find in the states but worth the hunt!

not my favourite beer: Green King IPA through a 'creamflow' system - went to a pub I've never been to before today; mostly to return the feeling to my hands after fishing the canal so I could drive properly…
the (1 pint of)Green King was the only thing on...horrible, creamy and weak. 😞

not my favourite beeer II - my mate left a couple of cans of Stella in the fridge - I drank them...absolutely foul 😶 😶 😶

Thanks, always up for a new cider!  Which should I be on the lookout for?

                                      Wow, that's hard question…

You could try Ecusson Brut.  (Cidraie is also good)

Mainly lookout for 0,75L bottles that are sealed with champagne style cork.

I'm in ATL and you can find Strongbow at every chain grocery store here.. I used to drink only cider before I drank beer

Picked up a bottle of Stone Arrogant Bastard for this weekend.

Yeah I'm finding strongbow at more and more retail outlets but still hard to find on tap at bars.
