Stuff you want to buy/dreaming of

Simon, Paris is great as a tourist but I lived there for five years and it's super, super stressful. Just not fun. You probably didn't notice but look at the difference between a 30 yo woman and a 40 yo woman in Paris. Nowhere else have I seen such a pronounced difference. Living in other parts of France is somewhat different, especially if it's in the south or west, but Paris is punishing. Take my word.
Beatle, climate in NM is wonderful. You get all four seasons but they are all rather moderate. The summers hardly ever go above 30C the winters hardly ever go under -10C. Berlin had worse winter temperatures this year. It's basically a high desert plateau (around 2000m). The air is like silk and the light is absolutely unique, which is the reason why they do a great many films there and why there are so many artists.
Culturally, it's also richer than the other mountain states, I'd venture to say, though it does not have a university as nice as Colorado, if that's important.
It has wonderful pueblo architecture which is along with skyscrapers basically the only truly American architectural achievement.
Besides that NM just got rid of the death penalty which is a cultural achievement reserved mostly for the more Europeanized New England states. So, I'd venture to say that NM is politically a little more liberal than CO, MO, WY.
500 acres shouldn't be a problem. But it's not as green as Montana. As I said, more of a desert thing. I think real estate prices might also be higher there than in the other states discussed in this thread but am not sure.

I'd recommend the train. The traffic jams can rival LA and the cops are all over the place enforcing the slightest speeding infraction of 3 mph too much. Not fun. Gas prices are higher by factor three, IIRC. Speaking French will really help because the French are about as much into foreign languages as the Americans. LOL!
Which reminds me to take a photo of my t-shirt for you.

I visited Paris for the first time this past Christmas. All you smokers would be right at home there. EVERYONE smokes in Paris, and everywhere – in cafes, on the streets, in stores, wherever...and they start young. But man...Parisians just look so fucking cool -- no matter what they're doing ! Most Parisians are just really suave and good-looking…I can't quite figure out how they pull it off. Some of it's fashion, but much of it is just the Parisian's innate aura.

Jeez, the French are the first ones to admit it, which makes them bearable. The Germans would defend themselves or censor you for saying something like that. My GF is French by the way. Have been with her for 10+ years. I'd say (have said) that straight to her eyes and she'd agree. So don't be holier than thou. If you were French you'd quite certainly agree instead of being offended. Chances are you'd help reload.
When you've lived there for years, you will know what I'm talking about. Besides, I have made it clear that the Parisians are a particular bunch and my comment was referring to them in particular. I wouldn't want to take out the entire people, of course. You will see the same effect (to a lesser degree) with Mexicans talking about the people from D.F.

P.S. So before you cut my entire comment out, did you check back with any French people or even other moderators or forum members to see if they find this offensive? Or was it another personal decision? Censor first, ask questions later!

I've spent a bit of time in Paris (I have family there). The "Parisians are rude pricks" concept is an enduring one, especially amongst a certain type of parochial British.
I've never really experienced this, certainly no more prickishness than you might get in central London.
I think that capital cities are a law unto themselves, and should not be considered a useful descriptor of a nation in general.
The universal law applies in Paris as it does anywhere - treat others as you would like to be treated yourself, (and before anyone asks, I'm a devout agnostic).

I´m glad I didn´t have a gun is the same thing - how would you feel if someone posted oh - Till is so strange, I´m glad I didn´t have a gun or else I would clean out his gene pool.
It´s offensive and there´s no room for that on this board.Seriously - you can take comments like this to any other Forum - but not here.

Ok, I've had a little financial windfall and feel the need to reward myself with some consumption. I would like something completely left-field and weird so I am opening the floor for suggestions - anything goes - hit me! The only criteria is that it has to have IH levels of quality.
Thanks.

OK, so I went out with my mate Robin last night for a couple of drinks, well 6 or so pints and a few tots of rum later I (apparently) had agreed to buy one of these (well, Robins getting one and I'm not going to be out done). Mrs G came home tonight to find me and Robin Googling it up (as he says) and I have permish to get one after the summer…...
