The reason I ask about washing is because these are over dyed.  Never washed over dyed jeans before so I'm concerned about how much these could possibly bleed the first time around.  Looking for the least amount of indigo loss.

I'm new here and was just wondering if I should size up. I wear a size 34 and just recieved these in the mail today but I could barely get the top button to close. So my question is should I have puchased a size 36?

^^ Were they hard to close because the button and hole didn't reach very easily or was it just hard to get the button in the hole?

Either way the 21oz denim if pushed will stretch a tremendous amount.

Very true.  Was curious to know if he was talking about buttoning up the top hole.  I remember the first few times I tried how much of a bitch it was.  Now after months of wear they button up with ease.

I concur. After my very first pair of IH 21/23oz i struggled post soak with buttoning the top button for about 20 minutes but once it's there it's there and fits snug right off the bat imho. With my next pair there was no panic, i dug in for the perseverance involved with the top button and the fit is perfect. I reckon if you can button right up and struggle with the buttoning (not the stretch) of the top one then you've got yourself and right pair of pants!  😉

PS: If i'd a dollar for every time i used the word "button" above i'd be halfway to the IHSH-72

                                highly appreciate your comment DD!

yeah,  i couldnt button the top 2 on mine, too
… & i hate getting bruised up until the top block get the proper stretch
so,  i do what i always do.

                                'cold soak for an hour.
'stepped on 1 end of the waistband & gently tugged on the other end until i got about an inch or 2 stretch
buttoned them up & stuck a hanger against the waistband to prevent it from snapping back
                                then, hang until totally dry.

Apologies I should have been more specific. I had to struggle to get the top button up. No problem with the hole. I'm comparing these to the 634s that I have and these just seem to be tighter in the waist, crotch and legs then when i first put the 634s on.
