I find it ironic that they claim these knives are "hand crafted" but are stamped out a dozen at a time

I know violence is not the answer, I got it wrong on purpose

Yeah, they should say, "hand crafted from blanks stamped 12 at a time." What impact does stamping the blanks have on long term quality? It would be cool if they had a "heritage" line that was all hand done, or better yet Damascus.  I'm just such a sucker for that beautiful leather grip…

Stamping can cause stress fractures in the steel

Also, I'm not sure that high end steels can be stamped. Ka Bar uses cheap steel

Most high end knives are hand cut, laser or water jet cut

Bark River Knives makes nice stacked leather handles. I've heard there are issues with their warranty service though

got it wrong >:(, its a buck 112,
still love this knife, even though I've added a few modern folders recently. Shame the british law is so blinkered (imo!)

edit, the edge looks pretty ragged there, more work ahead… ??? 😢

Turned out that making new scales for the Griptilian is way harder than for a regular, fully-lined knife. The liner demands it's own cut-outs and so does the axis-lock mechanism. Decided to try out scalemaking on an easier project and splurged for the Kevin Wilkins custom scales since the stock ones are horrible 🙂 The end result is a really expensive but hopefully super-nice Benchmade.. Got the black ones with a red anodized spacer.

                            Pics when they get here.

On a side note, getting to know stuff that custom knife makers do is not good for the "want"-side in me. Already thinking about getting a Leafstorm at some point and a small handmade fixed blade would be nice (as if I had any use for something like that 🙂 ) and and and….

                            AIAN HA-TO!

These are some seriously sweet scales! Just threw them on and got a couple of pics in the last daylight. The G10 is super grippy and everything fit just right. Amazing work by Kevin!

Scottish Sgian Dubg (black or hidden knife), I'm going to a wedding in a kilt and its traditional to wear a knife stashed in your sock with a kilt.

I have Wilkinsgrips on my Mini-Grip with the pool-green G10 spacer and I love that knife. Turns a great production knife into something even better. Nice blades gents.

Giles bought a few knives and had them shipped to my house. Offered to sharpen and tune them up without realizing how small they were

Belt sander with 2000 grit belt

                                        Plus teeny tiny knives

                                        Equals cooked thumbs

Giles, you're all set. They'll all split a hair in half now
