Beatle, not sure of the exact weight. But it's lighter than the SuperBlack for sure. I can comment since I own both. So, no – it's lighter than 16 oz.

Beatle, it'll be fine. I'll wear it all Bay Area Summer long. It's a highly breathable fabric ! You can wear a T underneath, wear it as a "shirt jacket" too.

giles, is it possible to get a heavy selvedge style chambray with workshirt style pockets, but with snap buttons? i'm a snap button kind of guy (easy in/easy out  )!

Pete,  don't want to confuse things by even asking the question.  Sorry.  I have got some snaps here that you coupld apply yourself, but would not quite cover the button hole stitching..G
