^ thats a lot of love for a lot of pairs. def think that the 634s is a jean that is perfect cut for all weather. be it cold bay days with heavy fog rolling in from the pond or warm streaks of sunlight bursting through with that nice wind chill factor we get during summer  ::) i've always really liked the diversity of that cut.

Hi guys, I have a question of the IH-634S jeans. I recently bought a pair and they were about 1inch or so too small to button up. Any ideas on how to stretch it? Also when should one do the first wash? Thanks

eseanyang – just wear them constantly. An inch is nothing. In about a month, those jeans will be perfect. Trust me ! Personally, I do the first wash as soon as I get the jeans -- inside out. They barely shrink at all, even with HOT water/HOT tumble dry.

My 634S have stretched about 2 inches in the waist.  This took about 20 wears.

The general advise is to wear the jeans as long as possible before washing.  6 months is probably the mean.

No need to wash/soak these before wearing since they are sanforized and will not shrink.

Mine haven't stretched much at all, but I didn't size down when I bought them.  The 21 oz denim seems to accommodate as much or as little stress you put them under.

It doesn't really matter when you wash them either.  Wash more = fade faster.  If you want to keep them darker, don't wash as often.  They tighten up just a bit when you wash but ease out again within a day or 2

You could get one of those stretchers at the home improvement store. But the most important thing is to stretch them after washing (preferably cold) and to hang dry them while still stretching the waist from time to time. You will gain an inch pretty soon. Is there absolutely no chance you can button them? Meaning even with effort there is still an inch left? If so, they are in fact too small. Exchange them. If you can still button them with a little effort that's the best way to stretch them, even if it's uncomfortable. I am not a 634S expert but I think I read they will stretch 1.5 inches in the waist. Not sure if that makes it that much better that they will be comfortable. Giles will certainly help you answer that question more precisely. And welcome to the IH forum! 🙂

my 634s the first time I got them from Giles

                  almost a year

now I'm stacking too much fat on my belly and thigh and they seem a lil bit tight to me. Nevertheless 634s will always be my favourite jeans

Drz…if you're fat, I'm morbidly obese. Your jeans look great ! Not too tight at all. They look great on you & the leg stacking is fine.

Fit pic of my 634S.  Size 31.  Less than 1 month of wear.

Lookin' good DrPat ! PS…if you don't mind my asking -- are you an MD or a PhD ? I figured the latter since you're Unix-literate. I'll bet you implement math code using "Numerical Recipes...".

OK, no more discussion about this since we're going off-tangent. But OMG ! I'm so fucking impressed DrPat ! My boss is a PhD in Physics and he's –- BRILLIANT ! You likely have the highest IQ on this board, DrPat !

DrPat's pics make me wanna buy the 634s. I thought they were a reg fit, not a slim fit?.. Anyway I love how they fit on you, Doctor  😉

They are definitely a straight fit.  I could have gone with size 31 or 32 but chose 31 since the legs were a bit slimmer.  The top block was really tight for a few weeks but stretched out for a perfect fit.

I like tapered legs and somewhat slimmer fits better.
