Nothing is worse than a beer purist… Just drink the damn things will ya... Anyone who starts yapping about how the beer was made and what different hops are in it, can expect to find the glass up their arse once I've finished...

Here here! Although, the same could be said for the lot of us and the particular details that we enjoy…

Well, Blue Moon is owned by MillerCoors, so it isn't really a micro/craft/whatever beer.  I like it, however.  Sierra Nevada makes good beer, too.

Nothing wrong with knowing what goes into the making of what you're drinking- learning that sort of thing is how you figure out what you like and how to make finding new stuff less of a crap shoot.  I'm not at the level where I know about hops varieties yet, but I'm getting slowly more knowledgeable.

The key is to know your audience- just like I don't talk about selvedge looms with people that wear Gap clearance jeans or the relative merits of 2824 v. 6R15 movements with people who don't wear watches, I don't geek out on beer with people who drink Budweiser.

That way the glasses stay on the table, rather getting shoved up one of my bodily orifices…

But please: don't put a sweaty, 300 lbs. nerd in front of me who has learned the jargon but couldn't actually separate a glass of injunjack's piss and a Karmeliet Tripel blindfolded...

I love Sierra Nevada and I love and mostly drink craft beers. I do enjoy some of the American macro beers sometimes, considering the price and the taste isn't THAT bad. But I do try to stay away from anything Anheuser-Busch because of their completely shady business practices. Their beer isn't that enjoyable to me either, especially that abomination to mankind, Bud Light.

I'd also like to add that Sierra Nevada is still considered a craft brewery even though they were widely popular now, which isn't a bad thing at all. More great beer for more people. I truly envy you guys that can get Dogfish Head. I had their 60 min IPA once and I was amazed. I wish I could try more 😞

True that.  One of the stores round me had decided to stock dogfish head regularly and I couldn't be happier about it.  Although, it is mostly pbr, labatts, and high life that gets consumed in my house…

Agreed.  Might not be drinking fine beer this weekend, but I'm lookin forward to trying some Belgian beer when I'm over there!

One of my roommates just returned from a half year trip to India.  This was her welcome back present.
Tonight's gonna be a good night

So, as I said above, my plan for the weekend was to pick up some imported delights from the US and Belgium. Got me some Goose Island IPA and Sierra Nevada and, in tribute to Seul, some Tripel Karmeliet and Chimay blue.

The Belgian beers are waiting to be had later in the week with mussels and frites (what else?) but the American beers were quaffed on Saturday night. Gotta say, the Goose Island was one of the best beers I've tried in ages. Those of you in Chicago have got a great brewery on your doorstep!

You need some fine Chablis to go with those moules… A Karmeliet really wouldn't work with it...  :-\

It has been decided that WESTMALLE TRIPEL is officially the most kickarse beer in the world… Why?.. Oh here's why:

                                            • took my mate and his wife to a restaurant on Sunday, but had the apéritif at my place... St. Feuillien extra blond grand cru for my mate, Bush blond tripel for me... We were still thirsty after these so I decided to split a Westmalle tripel... I love Bush blonde but the Westmalle just blew me away... It's obviously not the first time I tried it, but it was just so much better in every way... The obvious quality and strength of the taste... The intense taste and character... Holy cow was it good...

                                            • sober brand... They make the tripel and the double, and big bottles of the tripel, and that's it... No ads, no fancy additions to the line-up, just those two beers...

                                            • most beautiful bottle and label (ok this is a stretch but I love the simplicity of it):

I would really suggest you non-Belgians to get some Westmalle tripel and to DRINK THE BASTARD!.. Shouldn't be hard to come by, one of the biggest/ best sold tripel beers in Belgium!..
