I don't know if that's what he means but probably he means that a good pair of jeans shouldn't be subjected to a hot tumble dryer but you could do it with a cheap Levi.

Yes, dryers are not really great for clothes, particularly at high temps. The agitation, friction and high temps get to the fibers. Stuff will wear much faster than air drying. My personal guess is that you cut the lifetime of a garment in half. But there are certainly studies on that out there. I don't even own a dryer but in Austin it's frankly not necessary. If I put a load of laundry on the line outside it take me about 15 minutes. Often the first thin items will be dry by the time I hung the last item from the load. No kidding. Of course, when you have a family things are different.

Hmmm….that makes sense Till. Well, OK...this is gonna sound kinda funny but, given my gentle lifestyle -- it's tough for me to wear IH jeans out to start with. I guarantee that I won't experience "crotch blowout" or holes, rips, tears...because I am not hard on my jeans at all. As it is, they'll probably last longer than I want them to ! So, if my IH jean's lifespan gets halved by throwing them in the dryer -- so be it.  Half-life is still a long time (I'm predicting 5 years), and by then -- I'll want a new pair of jeans anyway -- just because !

Just take a look at your lint trap…all that fiber is coming from somewhere...

I abuse my jeans heavily… I do physical labour for a living, so these puppies get a lot of action...

I absolutely hàte it when jeans go soft... They hàve to be stubborn, selfish bastards for me to love 'm...

Weird little sideremark I wanted to make: my 19 oz. IHxSEBK07 feel a LOT heavier than my 19 oz. Samurai 710xx Black Knights... What could be the reason for this?.. Both are exactly the same in length, have both treated them exactly the same way,...

Very interesting Seul. Don't know why ! Perhaps Giles or Kiya know the answer. I love Samurai 710BK Black Knights – saw them on the Blue in Green website (http://blueingreensoho.com/) but they quickly ran out of my size. Now that I'm hearing that they feel lightweight in comparison to IH, I'm glad I didn't buy them.

'Lightweights' isn't the right word, but they behave very differently… The Sams are slubbier... Yet softer...

I don't know about the Sams, but the IH's are 19oz PRE WASH, they're 21oz post

Exàctly what I was thinking… Knowing about the 21 oz'es that become 23 oz. post wash, that's kinda what I expected...

Fuck me... I've always preferred 19 oz. jeans... Guessing 21 is the new 19...

                  Thanks Doug!..

I have a pair of 14oz Imperial Kings that have been beaten to death…they feel like they're 11oz now! Wear em until they're 19oz!!! Muahahahaha

Seriously though, what was stiff as fuck denim is now as floppy as flannel pj's...I'm sure you can get them to a lighter weight if you beat them up

Oh no no no… I prefer these 21 oz'uns BY FAR... "21 is the new 19" meant me stating that I now prefer 21 oz jeans over 19...

I've had a couple of glasses and am deadtired from work, sorry about the nonsensical posting...

One of the things I prefer about the new runs from IH are the unsanforized denim…they're a lot more crunchy and I really enjoy breaking them in. I haven't worn my 634SR's since I got my SEXIH07's, but those felt REALLY good too
