            MAJOR BOOT NEWS!!!!!

so i was over at alden yesterday to try and get some formal shoes for my tux. (what ? no IH tux simon?) i nearly bought a set of black cordovan chucka boots in black (dept. of redundancy dept.) but they were still 5 hundy even on sale! i might go back friday and p/u a pair anyway. talkabout well made shoes. its just that i wasnt expecting to drop 5 hundy on shoes i dont really need.BUT MAYBE I DO…....
            but... i digress.

so i was asking about the indy and the only thing that was holding me back was the color. well.... things are changing for the indy. there are new pairs on the way in dark chocolate brown, and there are soon to be black pairs also available.

the black version will be available by feb 2010!

i , for one, will be all over a new set of indy's in black.

            well, i was excited.

            so there!

            simon

Simon, what is the address of the Alden Store located near you? Does anyone know of any Alden stores closer to the Bay Area or stores who carry the brand? Looking into getting my self a pair sometime in the future but it is something I must size in person. Thanks for any and all info!

Personally i cannot see by Timberland Mocc's. But i really did wish that another premium manufacturer would make some identical so i'd have some more choice. Like these:

The Van Bomme are not different enough from normal Timbies that I can get for $55 at the outlet to spend $300 on them. When my last Timbies got the sole detached after two years of wear (it is repairable) I went to the outlet store and complained. She gave me another pair for $30. Hard to beat that. And I am of the kind who says it is better to buy an expensive quality product than a cheap one several times over. But in this case the Dutch shoes don't justify the expense.

The Russels are really nice, though.

In terms of boots I have four pair. A very soft, sheepskin lined black Chukka style boot by Bally, some J. Crew Clark rip-oo desert boots, a pair of the normal TImberland boots (hold up very well and look good) and I just got a pair of JM Weston Beaubourg Chelsea boots with the upper crafted out of one piece of leather. Those are amazing.

Alden also makes some plain toe boots that I like better than the Indies but the Indies are already very nice.

                                      I wear these:

Bikkembergs bought a year ago. Discount, 280 € => 100 €. Old model. Hard as fuck. In the process of cleaning them. Salty + snowy roads did a number on them.

Grenson WWII Italian armyboot repro. Had a vinyl sole added to have some grip. It was like iceskating when I wore them at work prior to that. Bought these 2ndhand on Styleforum (they were new, though) for less than 50 % of the RP.
