I think the puffy cut at the top works best when when wearing with an untucked, non-tshirt.  It hides that hip flare somewhat.  The 634-RAW should address that.

Just washed these (third wash), so time for a couple of pics. I've put the the hem off-cut in for colour comparison. These have had a years wear, they are now having a rest for a while.

Did you an H ever talk about doing the SR cut with some other denim, maybe 18oz Slubby or any denim for that matter….  Just one of those things on the dream list

He has not and I don't think we will.  The SR cut came in for a lot of criticism (in the west) for the hip flare…..

Th sr's are my first and only pair of IH right now.  If it was not for the room in the top block i would probably have to go 2 sizes bigger to fit. My legs are tree trunks…

my legs too mike. That the left over SR denim was just recently used to produce a 634S silhouette rather than a 634SR silhouette discouraged me from getting the 634S Raw, which is too bad since the 23 oz denim is amazing. Last time I checked, the 634S Raw's are just about sold out though, so there is no denying the popularity of that silhouette.

I would like to think you are right but was the silhouette what was popular or was it just the fact that these were limited run, 10 year anniversary and were the heaviest weight IH to date at the time? I think a lot of people might have purchased these just based on these 3 things and the cut was an afterthought. This is complete speculation of course…

My fat ass lucked out. I got the luck of being able to get the 10 year jean in the heaviest weight made at the time that also happened to be fat rated. I really lucked out with this jean

great observations mike.  to me it was in this order of importance:

1. denim (hardware & arcs are/were awesome as well)
2. cut
3. limited edition

I bought mine because of the feedback… the denim, the aging, the fit.  The fact that they were limited or special in my mind was initially a turn off because it seems more like marketing hype that tangible reality.  The jeans speak for themselves, though.

I am with you on this,  for tree trunk legs the IH 55 cut is nice.  G and Aero might restock the 55 cut, I highly recommend if you have big thighs.  The cut worked great for me.
