      Ever listen to Meshuggah?

They pretty much invented that polyrhythmic style of metal..

^^Yup! Meshuggah blows my mind listening to them. Honestly its so complex its like math. I have tried to play some of their stuff but it always ends up with me throwing my drum sticks across the room cause it is out of this universe and only robots can play that type of music.

I am pretty sure they invented the djent sound that a lot of bands that I like use.

Edit: Kinda sounds like TDEP they practically invented mathcore  😉

I prefer their older stuff, Back when they were completely nuts..

I've had the pleasure of seeing them live a few times.. I always have to pick my jaw up off the ground..

I think they have changed quite a bit over the years - actually a lot. They were crazy at first and still are now but they have also mellowed down a ton. I do like their new stuff but I do like their old stuff as well.

I am not the biggest fan of them though. Haven't ever seen them live but I fear if I did I would be crushed to death hahaha! Love that song though el!

On the subject of mathcore theirs a band (protest the hero), and I love them.

Then theres also Norma Jean and I'm not a huge fan but this is my favorite song by them.

Honestly, I wouldn't know haha. That is only one song (unless you have heard the before). But the stuff you posted was before my time, I love the music I listen to though. I am always willing to listen to new music though - but for me I can't listen to converge.

Ever heard of periphery though? I am in love with them actually they pretty much got me into all the techical grove metal/rock.

I really don't like much of the modern metal that comes out these days.. Seems like everyone is copying each other..

Hey Clint, check out confessor.  They predated meshuggah by years.  The vocals can be a little tough to swallow though.

Been digging on the latest Jex Thoth ep

if you're digging on newer prog stuff check out Diagonal from the uk.  The new Saviours record is pretty tasty, as is Great Falls (ex playing enemy), and if you're in the mood for some really hyper angry blackened crust check out Martyrdod from sweden (one of my favorites).  New Masto record is great too, but definitely a step further in the direction they were going, ie:away from their early sound.  non metal stuff i'm digging…. New Gillian Welch, Wild Flag, Helms Alee, Mammifer, Six Organs of Admittance.

as for  the norma jean/botch debate  i can say that botch was an absolutely one of a kind band when they were together.  they were an amazing band that was highly underappreciated and its a shame that they didn't stay together.  i really would have loved to have seen what direction they took their music.    I really loved These Arms are Snakes as well though,  they put on an amazing live show.

the first 4 integrity albums are required listening as well as the split 7" with mayday.  Seul have you heard the latest ep's?  in my opinion its their best material since the classic line up.  its VERY influenced by classic japanese crust/hc.    I never really got into the other bands you mentioned though….i always felt like it was too influenced by clones of slayer and not enough discharge.  Integ always had a real punk influence that alot of other bands lacked.  During that time period I was much more into bands like Born Against and Rorschach and Citizens Arrest.  The pre HHIG band Cop Out was great as well, got to play a few shows with them in the early 90's and they always delivered.

Japanese stuff never gets old.....Crow, Bastard, Framtid, Gism( of course) , UG Man, Nightmare, Kriegshog.....i could go on all day.  I'm sure you are into alot of the same stuff.

This reminds me that I need to pick up the new (no idea how long it's been out) RESIST 7"!.. I grew up with their "Revolution, the solution!" album... The band I sang in covered Resist... So good...
