    • RE: How Do I Edit My Profile?

Hi everyone! My first post in a while, and first in the new Forum. I am 69 years old, 70 this year, and a big fan of IH. I live in Japan and visited the IH HQ in Gosport with my family in 2019. I have three pairs of jeans, a denim shirt, a UHF shift and a cord Type 3 jacket. So I would say I am pretty well set up for life. I also have a slubby denim Type 2 jacket made by Samurai Jeans here in Japan, to complete my wardrobe. I rotate my three pairs of jeans in the hope that they really WILL last my lifetime. Cheers everyone!

Thanks Giles, that explains it. I used to take walks down on the Solent almost every day when I was living in Alverstoke. Love being by the water, too.

Hi Giles, a quick question. How on earth did you end up in a little place like Gosport. I heard on the podcast that you are from the Midlands. And then for years lived all over the world. So of all the places you could have chosen, how did it end up to be Gosport? Not that I have got anything against the place, I lived there for years!

HI Adam, Greetings from Japan. Yes, happy times. They are indeed Puma's I am wearing. Suede green/khaki. I have them in black and blue, too. All the best to you, I hope you are enjoying life in Southsea.

Hi Giles, I clicked "upload images" and selected some pictures, but all that came out was a load of letters and numbers. So any more advice you have would be appreciated.

Just listened to Giles on the podcast, also a first podcast for me. I live in Japan and am still struggling with Japanese culture after 20 years! So it was good to hear about Giles struggles too. And laugh at those funny stories. But they are so true! I am trying to upload some images of our visit to Gosport, but it doesn't seem to work from my Mac. Any suggestions?

Hi This is Sam in Japan. I haven't posted for A long time. I missed the Purple Rain UHF in Gosport. But I just snagged the last size L from the Hatchioji store in Tokyo. Yahoo! So happy! And I feel so lucky. Now I guess I have all I need to last me a lifetime. Jeans 634S 21, 666S 21, 888OD 21, Jacket IHJ 69 Khaki, Denim shirt IHSH 33, and now the Purple Rain! I also have a great Type 2 Denim Jacket by Samurai Jeans in Japan, my wife found in a recycle shop. Lucky guy.

    • RE: The Iron Heart Forum Ten Year Anniversary Party Week End…

Last time I was in the Village Home was in 2007, when we were back in the UK for a month. I haven't lived in Alverstoke since 1986 but I am glad that the pub hasn't changed since then.

Wow Giles, sounds like a great party! We are coming to the UK this summer (from Japan), but in August unfortunately.  However we are planning to pop down to Gosport to say hello to the gang. The 10% discount is tempting, too! If I were coming to the party I would suggest a swift half in the Anglesey before the BBQ! My sister was a barmaid in the Green Dragon at Rowner one summer in the 1970s, I wonder if that pub is still there. Anyway, I'm sure a splendid time is guaranteed for all! Cheers!

      That's right, Yukoguni is sugoi!
So you were an ALT, I've never done that, but I've been teaching English ever since I have been here. We've had our own little school for the past 17 years. Just my wife and I. Down the mountain in the city of Maebashi. Not much snow this year, but our daughter has been skiing. I don't really miss England cos we go there every couple of years. but I still love the countryside. And IH is in Gosport, where I lived for many years!! Small world indeed.

Yes, it's a great place to live. It gets pretty cold up here in winter, but we have our wood stove to keep us warm, and plenty of wood to burn, too! We've in Gunma for 20 years, I met my wife traveling in India. We will probably go back to the UK to live at some point, but I think we will be here for another 3 - 5 years. I guess it gets pretty cold in Minnesota, too! Cheers, Sam

I would love the blue and the red 155, if I could afford them. The wife put her foot down this time. Let's see if there are any left when my birthday comes around in July…..

Thanks Giles, a mine of information. I love the fit, but boy! they take some breaking in. I've just ordered a pair of 888S OD, looking forward to see how they fit.

Giles, why do you call the 666S the Devil's Fit? Is it because they tend to crush the nether regions?
