  • RE: IH-666-XHS - 25oz Selvedge Denim Slim Straight Cut Jeans - Indigo

    Hey everybody!
It's been about a month and a half since I got these and I just recently noticed this hole that is right above the top button hole.  That's my fingernail poking through it.  I don't want to make this hole any worse than it already is, so I haven't worn them since I noticed the hole.  Is this something that a local seamstress should be able to fix?  Or would it be wiser for me to send it to a denim specialist?

This is the first time I've had to deal with a hole in any raw denim, so I'd appreciate any advice.

Yeah, I know it looks a little sloppy compared to a nice hem, but I'm still young and I like the look.  Also I think stacking keeps me warm by preventing cold drafts of air in the winter from reaching my ankles.  I'm not a fan of cuffing, but I can always hem them.  However, I am curious… will allowing the stacks to settle now have any impact when/if I want to hem them in the future?

It's been about 1 month in my first pair of Iron Hearts, no soaks/washes.  Here are some fit pics.  There isn't very much fading so I didn't bother taking any close-ups.  When I first got them I had to lie on my back to button them up, but they've loosened up nicely and are very comfy now.  I'm loving these jeans.

Been wearing my IH-666-XHS's for a couple of days so far.  I've gotta say I have massive respect for this denim.  It's been biting me on my hips, thighs and backs of the knees a bit, I will admit.  I'm sure once they're broken in that they will be super awesome.

I'm sorry if this has already been discussed, and I know that they will stretch out over time naturally with use, but I was curious if any of you XHS veterans can give me any specific suggestions or strategies on how to stretch the front and back pockets a bit.  I can feel the waist stretching already, but the pockets are super tight.  Is there anything you do to the pockets to help speed up the process and make them looser?

    Cheers

Hey everybody, I've been going through this thread (and others on this website) for a while now and I think I've finally found my dream pair (IH-666-XHS).  I'm waiting for them to be restocked and am 99% ready to pull the trigger on them when they're in.

My natural waist is 30 inches.  90% of the time that I'll be wearing these jeans, I'll have an undershirt tucked into them to prevent drafts of cold air from going up my shirt.  The waist on my best fitting pair of jeans, after tucking an undershirt AND a button down shirt into them, stretches to 30.5 inches.  Giles mentioned in a response during his AMA on Reddit that he has (after a long time) stretched the 25 oz denim 1.5 inches in the waist, which is why I'm thinking about getting tagsize 28 (actual waist 29 inches).  Has anyone else experienced this much stretch with the 25 oz denim?

My other concern is in the thigh measurement.  I clicked on the link of How to Measure Iron Heart and Triple Works Bottoms, and have read this:

"Thigh:  lay the jeans flat ensuring that any rear rise fabric is to the left of the centre seam and measure the TOTAL width (not just to the centre seam) ensuring that the measuring tape is at right angles to the weft (white) yarns (for denim)."

When performing the thigh measurement, should the waistband be pulled so that it sits flat like it does for the waist measurement?  Or should you let the waistband be more relaxed so that the fabric of the front half of the waistband sits lower than the fabric of the rear half of the waistband?  This affects how much rear rise fabric is left of the center seam.  Does that make sense?

I can't wait to be a part of the Iron Heart Army! 😃
