  • RE: Red Wing Shoes

So after years of searching for a pair of Billy Boots, I finally scouted and hunted down a pair of my own, in pretty much mint condition. Normally I'm a half size smaller (9) but wanted them to have that extra space (9,5) for a warm and fluffy inner sole with support, and room for thick winter socks. Now I just need a knife that fits the pocket. ❤

  • RE: BS69xSOP420 - 21oz 777 SBG Berkeley Supply x Snake Oil Provisions Collab

So I finally got it together and joined the SBG club. I was unsure if 34 would work for me (normally a 33) but after the best support from Graham 👑 it all worked out perfectly.

I can't be any happier with the results, and there's even room for a small shrinkage. Should I soak them hot or wash them before breaking them in? I'd rather not, in case of marbling. Normally i just wear and wash when needed, usually 6 month mark.

  • Graphic comparisons between IH cuts

I wanted to see the difference between some cuts and made a quick graphic comparison between 666, 777, 888 and 634. Using photos from Brund's website (of jeans all in size 33) that are taken from a similar angle and size I placed the photos next to each other and drew lines across 4 points. I also added color coded points across the hem to illustrate the differences in width.

    Comparison areas:

**The bottom of the back pocket

    The side seam's end

    The side pocket rivet

    The top of the waist

Additional points in hem opening/cuff width**

Of course this is a rough comparison and the cuffing varies in length, but you still get a good idea of the differences.

I couldn't find a good 555 picture but if someone finds one let me know and I'll add it.

    All points stacked:

  • RE: To Cuff or Not to Cuff?

I've gone through most cuff styles but always come back to the Tokyo cuff. I love the chunky weight it adds to the draping of the legs, but it's also the easiest way for me to just buy jeans and not worry hemming.

It varies though how thick I like the cuff. Here it is at a good 6.5 cm / 2.5 ″ - but I also like it at 5 cm / 2". It really makes a difference 😉

@goosehd Thanks. I've had it for 9 years and was even featured on the Tanner Goods website some time ago. 😉

The lower snap button really marks all of my back pockets with the tanner goods "stamp".

My wife sent me this picture of my 777s while hiking this weekend. I'm glad I've started to wear these again. I've been giving my 555s a lot more use lately (so comfortable) but things have changed since I found these equally as comfortable as my 555. I'm a 33 in both.

Been using it for a couple of weeks and love it. ❤

Only concern is that the leather tag that hangs on the ball chain has loosened from the clasp 3 times. I've tried to tighten the clasp to see if it helps.

Luckily I found the leather tag all times on the ground not long after it fell.

Been looking for this Terrence Military Chambray shirt for a long time, and now at Indigoferas Garage Sale @ Göteborg Manufaktur, I finally found it.
Filthy had one I remember (further up in this thread). I'll be careful washing it with cold water since I love the fit exactly how it is.

    The fabric is crispy. ❤

I added the 555 cut to the graphic comparison. I found a photo that almost matches the angle and size of the others. It's not perfect but shows the basic differences in key points. The new color for the tripple 5 is PINK.

  • RE: IHM-27-OLV - Sateen M-65 Field Jacket - Olive

So, here's a horror story. Last year at work, I went out to grab lunch and returned quickly, holding my burrito bowl and drink. Using my upper left arm, I pressed open the huge and heavy metal door to my workplace. I felt and heard this sticky sensation peel off from my M65's left arm sleeve to the door and realized they had painted the door with black tar-like acrylic or oil-based paint.

I wish I could say they hadn’t put up a warning sign, but they had. In my hurry to rush back up for work, I completely missed the tag they had taped to the wall next to the door. I felt angry and stupid. I panicked as my brain just wanted to remove the paint quickly before it dried. I went upstairs, grabbed paper towels, and tried to tap most of it off, followed by some mistakes involving water, sponges, and liquid detergent.

Long story short: It did remove some of the paint but not all—perhaps 60%. The worst thing isn’t the paint; it’s how my rubbing, and perhaps the detergent, damaged the fabric and its "sheen," making parts of the fabric dull. I rubbed too hard and "aged" those spots by about 30 years. I’m all for patina and aging, but this is just weird. The thing is, I’ve read that parts of the discoloration might actually be particles from the paper towels and sponge - making it fixable? I hope.

Once my head cleared up, I realized I should have gone to the dry cleaners instead and let the pros take care of it.

I’ve worn the jacket since and felt bad about it, but in the end, I’m always the one telling people who get precious about their workwear and leather boots to just embrace the battle scars. Well, this battle scar came with PTSD and the works—I can’t open the door without flinching.

Anyway, to the question: I still haven’t taken the jacket to the dry cleaners. Should I do that, or should I continue trying to remove the remaining stains with lemon essential oil? I've seen that recommended for stains like this. I'm not as precious as I was 6 months ago. I've let go and don't mind trying different solutions. I'll post pictures later.

@Denimhead-0 Thanks. You’ll get there—patience is key! 🕰️ The only downside to the Billy Boot is that unless you cuff your jeans all the way up, the full beauty of the boot stays hidden from plain sight. But it's a cool little secret. 😎

  • RE: IHSH-399-ORA - 12oz Slubby Heavy Flannel Check Western Shirt - Orange

    My heart is broken.

20 years ago I found a vintage Pendleton flannel in almost the exact colors as this shirt. It was my my favourite shirt for many years, and it had that extra something over it. I received compliments for the shirt by strangers, people touched it and commented on how crisp and perfect it was. That is, until my then girlfriend decided to throw it in the washing machine, tumble dried it and turned it into a toddler's pyjamas.

No stretching in the world could put Humpty together again.

This is Humpty reincarnated. And I missed the train.

    Oh me oh my
