@FireGX dude I love this jacket. I’ve wanted a storm rider forever but the quality of original Lee ones is kinda shit haha. I did get a small. Small UHF is the perfect fit for me and so is the jacket. If you’re between sizes I’d maybe size up. The quilt on the sleeves make them a bit tighter than my type 3 IH jacket. I’m 5’10” 155 lbs if that helps at all
Hi, I’m Andy, and I’m an Iron Heart addict. It’s been eight days since my last purchase
As a side hustle, I buy and sell vintage guitars and after a particularly lucrative flip last year, I treated myself to a 21 oz selvedge Canadian tux. Things have… escalated from there.
At this point I’ve got five UHF westerns, one of which is overdyed black, a 14 oz indigo overdyed black western, a pair of 21 oz 666 SBGs, a 5 oz western SS for the summer and an oiled ODG N1 and 16 oz SBG western in the mail from a couple forum members.
I now have a closet full of lesser shit than doesn’t get worn while I rotate my modest (so far) collection of the good stuff. I’m the type of dude who goes to a restaurant, finds one thing he likes, and just orders that thing every time he goes back. Never been a label whore before in my life but here we are haha
Aside from Iron Heart specific stuff, I’m a devoted husband and father of two, devout practitioner of mindfulness meditation and ashtanga yoga, and a bluegrass guitarist, mandolinist, and singer.
Thanks for having me
Got baked af last night and made a new profile pic. Only god can judge me
Just found this thread. Bunch of dudes that are pumped on being dads? I’m in the right place. Me and my little homie on the back porch watching the storm tonight
Got them today. Ten minutes and a bloody thumb later, I’ve got em on. They’re tight in the waist so I’ll follow @neph93’s advice and wear them for a week or so before a soak and wash. They are no joke but they aren’t as heavy as the Wills jacket (thank god) I guess because of the wax they put on it or something. I love these. Lookin’ forward to breaking them in for sure
Had a bit of a situation with mine a few days ago. I grabbed a spray bottle of water to help set the creases and immediately felt a weird warm sensation on my left arm. Felt the spray bottle and the water was cold so immediately was like “that’s not water.”
Immediately put my arm under cold water till it was soaked, then threw it in the tub to soak submerged in cold water.
Turns out it was bleach. The bottle was labeled water and I have long covid so I couldn’t smell it. Just glad I figured it out and took action immediately. Could have been a LOT worse. As a result the left inner arm is just slightly lighter than the right. Good times. But hey maybe once I fade it all the way down it’ll balance out. Still super thankful to have gotten one of the last two of these in my size. Rather than be bummed about it, I’m looking at it like it’s just part of the story of the evolution of the fade. As my signature below says:
“The root of all suffering is the giving of fucks”
Any pickers in here??
Here’s a video of my duo playing a gig a while back and another quick one of some woodshedding.

Gettin’ ready for a mile run to break these beasts in ASAP. Iron Heart track suit. Day old IH-555-XHS and 2 month old IHSH-295-IB. Dedication to the fade
@Oaktavia hell yeah man, this was my oldest’s jacket when he was just a little guy. Now he’s four and wears nothing but Transformers t shirts. Maybe I’ll get him an Optimus Prime back patch and style him out again
@Oaktavia just make sure if you film a birth video, the camera is pointed in the right direction. I pulled a boomer move and got a selfie video of my reaction to the birth instead of the birth itself
@Denman-John all fiddles are little
Sorry, had to. He’s good! I’ve been pickin’ a little mandolin lately. Scored a 1913 F4 a few months back and it sounds incredible
@Denman-John sounds great. Which one is he? Brutal to have the guitar facing the other way and the mandolins facing the camera but you can still hear the guitarist rip.
That was my ‘38 D28. Sadly had to let it go to fund a kitchen remodel. Ended up with the sick 1934 Jumbo I posted above though and man I love that thing
@twin yessir I’m trying to do every day for a year along with my 555-XHS. First time I’ve committed to a year straight to fade stuff. Stoked to see how they turn out
Just started taking private lessons from this dude after watching this. He is def my favorite flatpicker and I’m so pumped he gives lessons. This video on its own is a gold mine
