        @Jii:

Anyone got any good tips on stores in Shibuya/Harajuku Tokyo (jeans otaku/americana stuff)?

Going to spend a whole day cruising the village-like streets (already went there once this week but only visited F.I.L. (Visvim), Supreme and a shop I don't recall the name of right next to it (they stocked Danner boots and Americana stuff but nothing of particular interest)). I plan on visiting SDA in hopes of getting a grey crewneck and OT & Emotional for Flathead, Skull and Red moon stuff (probably Buzz too and all kinds of different other Americana stuff).

It's really hard to pinpoint stuff in Tokyo because the good stuff seems to be hidden too well and there's just too much space to cover and too little time.

I have the Sufu guide and I've read the Sufu and SF Tokyo stuff but haven't found any more than these. I have access to the slowest possible internet connection right now so scouring the net for stuff is out of the question.

        Thanks in advance!

go to tenderloin.  its very close to supreme.

Thanks, I'll try to sneak in there before I leave on sunday. I'm going to visit Loopwheeler anyway which is in the neighbourhood. I really hope they have crewnecks in my size there, SDA's largest was an M and OT&E did have lots of nice stuff but none in my size. I'm SO the wrong size for japanese shops.. Except for IH of course :).

Keep your fingers crossed for Loopwheeler, their indigo and heather grey crewnecks are beautiful!

I need some well made solid color or muted pattern button downs.  I'm looking and have found a few but any more suggestions or links in the right direction would be appreciated.  Thanks.

Hamilton gets my vote. They're pricey (near $200 for the 1883 line, off the rack, higher made to measure) but superb quality. I splurged and bought one, loved it so much I've now bought 4 more and thrown most of the rest of my dress shirts away. The 1883 size M fits me perfect which is nice.

Edit: and handcut and sewn in the USA.

Gitman has been hit or miss for me quality and sizing-wise.  Also hard to find solids.  Hamilton, I've read about but will check out more.  Thanks guys.

agree - quality is pretty good, I just found the sizing a little off for my own preference

don't get the use of Italian Cotton though

I like their stuff but now it's one of those things I need to buy in person because I'm tired of returning mediums that fit like larges.

Other lines I've been looking at…  Unis, Steven Alan, Our Legacy.

i think you will like tenderloin.  They are more generously sized than most japanese brands.

Budget?  Solid in-ear with the proper fit won't need "noise cancelling" tech.  I wear them all day and can't hear anyone, even if they're directly in front me within a few feet.

and you get 3 different sizes of rubber earbuds so they always fit

Klipsch S4 (my current ones) & Etymotic ER6is (had two pairs) are good for under $100.  It really depends on how anal you are about sound.  Once fitted (they come with different sizes & types of buds) they block sound out really well.  The Klipsch are built a bit better and have lasted longer for me.  Like I said, I use these things 6-10hrs a day.  Both do a good job on planes.  If you want to get into audiophile stuff, start looking at high-end Shures and think about custom ear molds.  Stay away from the low-end Shures though, they have too many problems and don't last.
