Shane, the black CXL is really nice and soft. It'll make for a comfortable boot almost right out of the box. That being said, I think you made the right choice with the counter. The black smooth seems to be way more robust than the CXL. Can't wait to see your new boots!
Yeah I can't wait. I have Alden Indys in Brown CXL and they are extremely comfortable. The CXL on the Aldens isn't nearly as thick as White's or as well supported. But I did notice on my Aldens that the heel had a lot of scuffing and nicks, so that's why I went with the black smooth.

Nice make-up. You're exactly right about the heel. Heel on my cxl Alden's is also beat up pretty bad.
But, why the block heel?Looks.
I had to email Kyle to see if I could get them, wasn't an option on the site. But I'm sure it will be fine.
I have a block heel on my Aldens and Vibergs as well.

Yeah I'm just not a fan. Reminds me of cowboy boots.
Maybe I'll try them on my next pair.

Looking forward to seeing these Shane, the make up looks very solid. Love the two tone of black and natural, if I ordered again I would do exactly the same, maybe with a double midsole and different toe leather.

All Natural CXL will be my next pair. Just not sure whether I want 8" or oxfords.

This should not even be a question. Even I like them, and I don't do lace to toe, roughout, or black boots…

After owning some Viberg black roughouts it definitely gave me a new appreciation for the clean look of roughouts.
I'd suggest a custom pair and get a black edge. All blacked out. That's my second in line for custom boots.
