Absolutely. Almost to the point that you feel they are impenetrable. At the same time, though, they're the most badass jeans I've ever laid my hands on. I've had my pair–the original one, with the button fly--for a couple of months and have yet to wear them out because I have not managed to pull the trigger on a pair of boots worthy enough to be rocked in unison.

I yearn for that day.

The denim used for the button fly version is a lot lot stuffer than the zip fly version…..Same denim, just different posy loom processing...

Yes stiff, mine still stand on their own even after several machine washes.

Yeah I love 'm. More importantly: these FIT. 32x32 and that's what I'm buying in the future. No more extra length for me!.. Really adds to the fit, imo…
