Watches - another OCD problem

@Jii:
And here's candidate number three
or actually number one at the moment. Superocean Heritage 46. Big but not bulky, much dressier than my Sea Devil and simply stunning..
My love for automatic watches started with Breitling and it seems that they still speak to me more than any other brand. Just a month or two until I have the funds, so decisions will have to be made… It's either the Explorer two or this one. At the moment I have stronger feelings for this one, it just speaks to me more..
And ooooooh on this one with a leather Nato like Michaeljcr:s....
Decisions, decisions...
Never been a fan of Breitling at all but i do like the Superocean Heritage alot. Now it really seems as if the SoH has your heart more than the Exp II so i'd go for that if i were you.

Well it did for a while but then some things started to bother me (feels a bit too big, a bit too shiny and the shape of the case felt wrong and I don't like mesh bracelets so I would be restricted to straps). Went and tried on the Rolex again and came to the conclusion that it's not for me either, I do need a bit more edge from a watch than it has .. Did some more research and found a piece that ticks all the boxes.. Going to pay the deposit on it on saturday and in the end of january it will be mine! I'll keep you guys in suspense for a while

Ahh come man tell us the suspense will kill me!!!
On another note i watch i have been contemplating for sometime came up at a resonable price but before i could enquire about it,it had gone

@Jii:
Well, one of he reasons (and a hint) that I had to decide quickly is that the model is discontinued and hard to find new in shops.. And another hint is that it's not far from a watch in a post by me a couple of pages back
Ahh k,k i got ya. Now that i think i have a rough idea i can wait now lol.

Anyone tried/considered one of these? :

Yeah, Marathons are tall watches. That's one of the things that's always put me off of them. I'm constantly banging my watches into stuff and I prefer low profile ones, so that I can cut down on the dings and scratches that I invariably pick up.
You're right about them being designed to take a beating, though; the company has contracts with the US and Canadian militaries to produce watches for their troops. If you hunt around, you can get a watch with the US seal or the Canadian maple leaf on the clasp of the bracelet. I've read that the bracelet is really well made, too.

Yeah i read about the military contracts they have and no doubt it's very much a feather in the cap of the company as well as a great marketing tool. I get and could live with a 'Standard' versions dial but having the seal on the bracelet does not appeal at all is just to much too cheesy even, for me anyway in thought.

I have been beating on this JSAR for almost a year. Its pretty much the IH of watches. Ridiculously thick stainless steel that begs to be abused…

Kinda the same with that Hinderer there eh?
-
Exactly. I like stuff thats made to be abused. That hinderer is used as a prybar and screw driver just as much as a knife. Got to love overbuilt goods…

I suddenly have the urge for a watch from the 40s or 50s. I dont have a clue about old watches. Can anyone suggest a brand and model in the 5 to 700 usd range? 50s watch on a cordovan NATO strap… drool.
