BTW, Seul I had always tagged you as someone I wanted to have a beer with.

      I completely agree with this!

I just got a tin of this pomade and it's the best stuff I have found in a long time. The only downer is is the almond scent, after i use it i want to eat my hands. It smells delicious.

I'd brush my teeth each day but somehow clusters of Algae and plankton would grow on my teeth. My breath stank like fecal matter and I was scared to open my mouth around woman. My life was a tragedy, if the wind blew to hard I might get another crack in my mouth. My teeth were so yellow my tongue wore sunglasses. I was so frightened of the dentist. And embarrassed. I ultimately made the call and my stink face is gone. Best move I ever made. Now I am getting chicks and I am able to talk with folks with out them making strange faces because of my stank mouth. Hot towel. Hot towel. Hot towel.
                          Go with the grain.
                          Expect blood.
                          Expect break outs.

                          My experience anyways.

Btw. I have the exact razor. Just not much use for it since I sport a beard.

I guess I should clarify, this was just for the first few weeks while my skin adjusted from an electric razor.

Been using a safety razor for a few years. At first it's a bit rough until you get the technique down, but i would never go back to a cartridge. Buy good blades as well, I use feather. Also, watch YouTube videos by "manic" I believe his name is.

That makes sense- I used to shave my head with an electric and had problems with breakouts for a couple of weeks when I switched to a blade.  Forgot about that.

You are going to want either a soap or a shaving cream in a jar or tube. both of which require a brush to build a lather.

Hence the name wet shaving. 1st pass with the grain, 2nd pass across the grain, 3rd pass against the grain. Rinse face with hot water then cold water.

Read this 'Leisureguy's Guide to Gourmet Shaving': http://amzn.to/AbIvjC

It takes some practice to get the technique down (it is much different than shaving with a cartridge razor - ie: you don't apply any pressure when shaving - you let the razor pass over your face and the weight of the razor does the work). You may encounter some small nicks, but take your time, take it slow, and the whole multiple passes and taking into account the direction of the grain of hair is very important - you won't get all of the hair in one fell swoop so don't even try (unless you want terrible razor burn).

Also, expect to spend some money once you get into it - razors, brushes, blades, shaving creams, shaving soaps, and after shaves/balms all provide a very different experience - and to be honest it makes shaving fun. But, before you go buying tons of stuff use your current set-up for a month to get the hang of it - shaving, building lather, etc.

Also, while Feather blades are great - they aren't for everyone, and don't work well with every razor… Blades are great because they are cheap, so it is easy to 'experiment' and find one that works well for you.

There a lots of places online to buy proper shaving equipment: http://www.bullgooseshaving.net/, http://www.royalshave.com - so browse around. And, as this is a blog devoted to Iron Heart/denim - there are multiple blogs devoted to a proper shave - http://www.baderandblade.com, http://www.simplyshaving.net
