My new favorite rugged wear has arrived.  The body armor is soaking as I type…

Here's an update on what's been done thus far, this is my first unsanforized experience:

-Soaked in "hot" water in the washing machine basin, lid closed, from 6PM-9AM MST this morning.  With hand agitation four times during the first soak.

-Switched water and soaked again on the "hot" setting...Still soaking at 10:51 AM (1h 45min so far)

Question:  I am thinking about wearing the jeans while slightly damp until they dry.  Is this recommended or does it affect how much they ultimately shrink (less/more)?  And how damp should they be before I put them on?

            Pre-soak Measurements:

            -waist: 28"
            -thigh: 11.9"
            -knee: 9"
            -opening: 8.6
            -rise: 10
            -inseam: 35

There was still an inch of room in the waist.  There are four silver buttons on the fly, so the rise actually feels quite high.

You've soaked it for 16 fecking hours?.. If there's still an inch left in the waist after 16 fecking hours I def wouldn't wear them damp as that's a method to stretch jeans… Although if they're a bit big, they shouldn't stretch unless you do squats and such...

But seriously: 16 hours??? Where the hell did you come up with that idea?..  😉

Well the info on this thread calls for an overnight soak: To me that's 8-12 hours.  I needed to shrink the waist and every other measurement significantly since I'm a 27" waist, so I went for 15.

I checked them in the morning and went with another hot soak, per the instructions on this forum, for 2.5 hours.

I took them out 11:30AM MST for a total of 17.5 hours.  I have read here that you should soak your jeans until you remember that they're there, and then soak them again, so I do not find my attempt unreasonable, but of course we will see

They are drying in the sun, will post updates shortly.  Thanks for the comments!

Tried them on while damp…Almost perfect in the waist, just able to button the top.  Amazing shrink action in all dimensions.  Gonna let dry another hour.  I worked the leg seams while wet to counter-act the leg skew, and they have remained straight so far.  The humidity in Albuquerque is 25% right now so they dry super quick.  Will put on and wear around after that, updates coming...

D97x7: I think they are perfect the way they are now, they will look great after you break them in. It's up to you though of course.

TinMan: I am using an Angelos bifold wallet that measures 4.5 x 3.75 when empty. It does not take up the whole pocket, I just place it in the same spot every time i remove and replace it.

where did you get the wallet it sounds cool

                        Now, I have an IRONHEART!!

Took them down when still cold to the touch in the waistband.  Put on a thick belt and walked around for two hours.  Totally dry in the 90 degree weather.  Still wearing them, I'll measure them tonight and post…

These are glorious!  This was my first time soaking a pair, and now that they've shrunk to fit, I feel like I own them.  They enrich my life and will give special meaning to everything that I do.  This denim is twice as thick as my thickest pair, and they've already started to soften.  They're so hard to take off its like a binding contract between me and the jeans, I take them off when they let me.  Its only been two days of wearing, but I would spend all of my money on the Iron Heart website right now if I thought I could get away with it.

However, the inseam shrank to 33.25", and my ideal inseam for stacks is 32".  I was hesitantly considering having these hemmed, but could anyone tell me from experience how these jeans stack?  Would the extra inch of length be too much, or will these jeans be able adjust?  I am still anticipating some shortening of the inseam when the creases behind the knee finally set-in, but I do not know how much to expect.  Any comments are appreciated, Thanks!

Don't cut them off adam, they will crease and raise up on their own. You may even get a bit some
shinkage with future soaks so wear them for a while before you shorten them. 😉

I was going to get mine hemmed, I usually go for 34 but decided after less than a weeks wear to leave them at 35.? as they seem to be fine now. So I'd say just wear them for a bit longer, see how you get on, you can alway do it later but once done you can't go back.
