I had a MY00 Turbo for six years. It was about 18 months old when I got it, so it was a while back. Modified it a bit as it's pretty much impossible not to with Subarus. I loved it. Sold it to a local fella who took it to Switzerland with him when he moved. About a year later I was driving past his Father's house and it was parked outside - I had this ridiculous slug of adrenaline, as if I'd unexpectedly seen and ex-girlfriend who looked sexy as hell.
      Hilarious, but genuine reaction.

I dread to think how much you're spending for another 60bhp @denimhead.

^ I think I understand the feeling you describe when you saw your old Subaru after not seeing it for a long time. We hadn't seen our Subaru for a couple of weeks when we visited the garage where the works been done and that's after owning the car for only a few months. We both really miss our car and it's going to be a long wait until we get it back.

We decided to do a step by step BHP  upgrade and the first step is to build the engine so it's capable of handling the final stage power. So the 60 BHP increase is a step along that journey. Strengthening the engine is where the main expense is [emoji21]

Step by step was always my approach. I'd rarely upgrade a number of components at a time where possible as I wanted to feel the difference (or not) each made individually and go from there.

The best money I ever spent was when I took the car to Powerstation, right next door to Litchfield Imports. They sorted its alignment and performed their 'bump steer' modification - basically putting shims in the steering rack to prevent the front wheels toeing under suspension compression and therefore reducing/eliminating understeer. The car pretty much went in without a single wheel pointing in the right direction, which obviously amplified the effect, but it was by far the best £130 (iirc) I've ever spent.
Eibach springs, updated droplinks and a stiffer rear anti-roll bar were added later piece by piece, but nothing else had that night and day difference.

I've an E92 M3 now. It's got the utterly incredible 414bhp V8 in it and is a far superior car, but I don't think I love it any more than the old Scoob.

^^ Gotta love the Eibachs, I put them on pretty much every car I own!

Agreed. A set is one of the only things the M3 might ‘need’ in the future, but that would only be to drop it a couple of cm at the front. Doubt it’ll happen.

Just a word to the wise: If you're planning on modding a car right out of the box, often times it makes sense to just pony up and get the most powerful version of said car.  As is often the case with my cars, I can't seem to leave them alone. Given the money I tend to dump into them, I'd have been better off buying the hotter version from the jump complete with heavier duty brakes, cooling systems, suspension, etc.  Right now, I'm regretting not buying an M2 or M4.  I love my car but even with the upgrades (should be pushing ~380 whp or so) it just still leaves me wanting more.

and a supercharger…  😉 though, i don't really want to mess with the s65 that much because it's an engineering marvel..

yes. but the satisfaction you get when you mod and you see your hard work come to fruition.. i know a m2,3,4,5 comes great out the box. but it's the bond between man and machine..

think about it.. you've got akrapovic for the bmws, renntech for the AMGs and milltek for RS..
i've seen a few videos on highly modded Ms on LivingLifeFast's channel on youtube. some of the fastests m5 and 135M putting out 900-1000bhp to 700-800bhp respectively..

Came across this beauty the other day. IMHO one of the best looking (if not the best looking) sedan(s): BMW E38 750iL (1994-2001). P.S.: I also think that almost every newer BMW looks simply hideous (unpop opinion?).

definitely an unpop because i think they look gorgeous. especially the M3 version where the rear wheel arches flare like a phat ass. the e30 3 series and the e65 7 series are one of my favs. 760li with the twin turbo v12..  😎 😎 😎

what do you think of the new G20 3 series?

I just feel that the latest models look too overstyled, as if BMW is trying way too hard. Unfortunately the new G20 falls into this category as well IMHO :-[. For example, I like the F01 7 series too as it still looks elegant and slick but the G11 is just awful.

The new cars are overstyled and fussy to my eye too. The E92 is a far better looking car. Part of why I bought one.

^^the E platform was the best, for me E90 M3 in that case, sedans over coupes any day as a personal preference. i understand that some may think the new designs are over styled but we're looking at it retrospectively..

i feel the G platform fits in with the current design language for cars, looking a little futuristic if you want to put it that way. but could we have seen the E or F series the same way when it was back in 2005/2011 respectively?

Assembled in Brazil; powered by a MIJ Toyota 4 cylinder, 3500 cc diesel engine; it is a true workhorse. 2000 kg payload, it carries everything from cattle, fencing wire, lumber, generators, etc. The unsightly carrying box is super useful because all 3 sideboards lower independently.

It has a set of huge military style-treaded tyres (9.00 x 16) to help me move around in extremelymuddy situations.
