An actual serious question here: is everything in Dubai shiny?  It seems like every time I see something from there, it's sparkly.

yup - everything is constantly being cleaned . . . it's a big deal here for a number of reasons

mind you, things are not so shiny after a sandstorm . . .

oh I know exactly how it works out there Beats, been doing that too long - mostly cheap labour that get's it done

couple of trips back I got some time away from AD to go back up to Dubai, so a a colleague and i went to the Burj Khalifa since we knew the project managers - in the elevator he said to me "you realise we are in the world's fastest lift, going up the world's tallest building which was designed using previously untested techniques all built by the CHEAPEST tenderer . . ."

i took the stairs down . . .
