I have the previous version of the SEXIH07IIIBK2 and the recent 633S-OD as well, which I believe uses the same 18oz vintage denim as the new SEXIH07IIIBK2 version - all of them are very black to start.
The 14oz OD denim has a much more greenish hue, in the weft especially. That's the same denim as the 777-OD, check out the photos:

And just wanted to add that the SEXIH07IIIBK2 is probably my favourite piece of clothing, it's really amazing. It has shorter arms than most IH jackets, which is good for me, but not for everyone. The 18oz denim is really fantastic as well.

@chech69 I have the original SEXIH07IIIBK and to echo what has been said in replies to your question, it is a black jacket. It is surely a different "black", however, than any other black article of clothing I own. In the light it has a greenish, grey-blue tint to it. You can't quite put your finger on what's different about the black but there's something truly unique about it.

Thanks, All, for your feedback here.

@awalden I guess my question is, how accurate is the color in the pics on the Self Edge page http://www.selfedge.com/iron-heart?product_id=536
The images there appear to be a bit more blue than the BSP-14 that I have in hand.  Just trying to find out if those pics properly represent the color.  I'll say that you and others have directly answered this question for me- it's black, just that you mention a different tint to it…

I just received my new SEXIH07IIIBK2.

I thought I’d post some fit pics just to see if anyone out there thinks going down a size would be a good idea before going through the hassle of shipping the jacket back and getting a new one all to have it be too small in the end.

I was torn on which size to get since I wasn’t able to try on before ordering.  I was leaning towards the 40 but went with the 42.  Now I’m wondering if I should have gone with the 40.

The reason I went with the 42 was because the 40 had very similar measurements to another jacket I have, the Rogue Territory Waxed Canvas Ridgeline Supply Jacket which has a similar “Type III” cut.  I have that jacket in medium and the sizing numbers are pretty close to he SEXIH07IIIBK2 40, but the RT jacket is very snug to the point where mobility is slightly compromised, which I’m ok with because I feel like it looks good  (although the sleeves are a bit too short).  Here are some fit pics for the Ridgeline: https://imgur.com/a/A4xfK

I’m pretty sure most are going to say the fit on the is SEXIH07IIIBK2 perfect… hell, even I like the way the fit looks in the pics, but the jacket just “feels” big to me because I usually go for a more snug fit, especially around the chest and body.  For example on the IH jacket I can grab a couple inches throughout the chest and body but on the RT jacket I can barely grab an inch.

            More fit pics here:

            Happy New Year!

I would keep that if I was you. Looks spot on. I would imagine if you went smaller the arms would be too short.

I used to have the Ridgeline in a large, which I just sold. I'm 5'11, 175lbs and the large fit me pretty well. I'm surprised you went with a medium because it looks way too small on you

I'd opt for the 42 in the IH type 3 like you did and I think that is the right fit for you based on your height and weight

Received the size 40 from SESF.

Really liking it, though it is pretty stiff.  As I was asking some around here, I was wondering how black it actually would be compared to photos, and it's definitely a black jacket, but interested to see how the indigo comes through with time.

Pockets and extra-length are must-have for me, and do not disappoint.

Some pretty awful fit pics- I'm 5'10", about 175lbs, and wearing a thermal shirt and short-sleeve under this.  I think the fit is ok, and was concerned that the sleeves would be a bit long for my short arms, but I can live with it…

I am at a point (2+ years deep) where I feel like its time to wash my jacket in the machine. I have soa.ed a few times in cold water.

I am not usually concerned with washing denim, but this is my baby. Are there any thoughts or concerns around shrinkage doing this?

wearing through one elbow and debating how to fix. just now starting to show its true character.
