Apologies if the info is somewhere else here but has anyone any experience of Russell Mocassins or Yuketens? Looking at a pair of Russell Country Chukkas, Russell Mcintosh Birdshooters or Yuketen Maine boots. Not got enough in the bank yet but was wondering which I should go for. Any suggestions/experiences that could guide me in my rather expensive choice?
                            Thanks!

regarding snow boots, I've a pair of these Sorel x Concepts collabs that are a hair big… size 10 with felt innerboot, that I'd consider parting with if someone was interested. Very lightly used. I wear big wool socks and they're fine but otherwise get more heel slip than I'd like. If interested PM.

can only quote Yuk Maines -but love them . . . if you have a choice get the natural rubber sole (work with the boot better), vibram christies look ok but the sole isn't all that long lasting and not so easy to replace!

my boots are horween chromexcel - brilliant pull-up leather, and decent thickness without being too stiff

Thanks Geo..yeah they look incredible. Have a slight leaning for the Russell Mocassin at the mo. Bit cheaper but takes an age to get them (18 weeks?!). The Yuks may still get the nod though! How do the Yuks size? I've read you have to size down? I'm a uk9 normally. Thanks again!

I am also a UK 9 in most shoes and boots.  I bought a pair of Yuk, scotch grain brown angler shoes from Bureau in Belfast ( great store if you have not familiar with them, check them out online ).  I sized down 1/2 size and the fit is spot on.  If I had bought a US 10 ( UK 9 ) they would have been too loose for sure.  If you are buying them online without having tried them first then I would suggest you buy them in size US 9 1/2 ( UK 8 1/2 ).

The shoes themselves are really well made, I have been very impressed with them and can recommend them highly.  It is only the high price that put folks off, however the old saying of "you get what you pay for" is certainly true for Yuk products.

                                    Hope this helps

I bought 81/2 and am standard UK9 . . . and the Bureau guys are great (worked over in Belfast for a while)

The Yuketen Maine Guide Boot definitely runs 1/2 to 1 full size large. I'm between a 9.5 and 10 on most shoes, 9.5 in an Alden Indy. If I recall the Yuk's only come in full sizes, I bought a 10 and it was a full size too large.

As an aside, the Yuketen stuff I find terribly hard to find online. They have a rather broad selection on their site (no online store there of course) but most pieces can't be found anywhere that I've come across.

Here are my winter beater, bought from Schuh Bertl in Munich. They are called ´Biker Boots´.

I really like them. Very hard to get  in and out, especially in the beginning but of course, will get better with time. I really like the fit of these boots though it takes some time to melt them to your toe style. Decent boots! Unless you plan to buy a 45 (stock example) these are made to order and my pair took about 3 month to be done but was fully worth it!

If you plan on using these in areas <-20°C I suggest either getting them one size bigger, so you can put on a pair of thick socks (keep in mind you wont be able to wear them with normal socks then..) or - my personal advice - buy that pair and ask to have it fleece lined.

i have a pair of these and as far as traction goes they are excellent for snow.the only problem i`ve had with them were gross salt stains due to walking in snow all the time.
